Is there something you thought you couldn’t pull off but can?

About a year or so ago I bought a nice sort of multi coloured pleated midi skirt from Sainsburys Tu range. Mostly for work (looked good with a black T-shirt etc) until I also wore it the other weekend with a roll-neck mauve sweater and black biker boots.

Then I found a lovely dusky rose pink pleated midi skirt from Next and I bought a mauve cardigan from there (it was styled together) and wore that for an afternoon out (lunch, walk).

It worked as covered legs and arms (cold!) but looked smarter (but still sort of casual) too.

I’ve bought the wrong sort of patterned midi skirt and regretted it in the past.

So is there anything you thought you couldn’t pull off?

The way you're styling it sounds great, pleated midis are so versatile.

I've unexpectedly pulled off a sequin bodycon evening dress at a size 16-18. I think it works because it's long sleeved, high neck and full length so not showing any actual flesh!

With my Tu skirt I’ve worked out as it has a few colours then pick out one for top half to balance it out.

For the other skirt the cardigan (it’s sort of a cardigan top) was tucked into the skirt. With a camisole nude vest top under it.

I also do contrasting or similar colour earrings.

@TheGrandUpwards - that dress sounds amazing! Sometimes the right dress which fits etc is unexpectedly flattering!

Leather skirt and lace body suit, however didnt get to wear it as we're not going away now! Booo! Looked epic though!

A grandad type blazer. Thought I'd look horrendous in it, but I love it!

The colour coral.

I could have sworn it never suited me but since starting to wear it, I always get compliments and get see it brings my skin to life.

It's baffling.

Round glasses. Weight loss and age mean my face looks longer, so round matt black specs balance everything out.

Round gold rimmed glasses. I've a fat very round face so I thought they definitely wouldn't suit me but they really really do.
