Interview outfit

Help
I haven't had an interview in four years. Iive in leggings and trainers, sometimes dms and jeans. I wear a uniform to work. I have an interview next week and have been scrolling websites all night. I don't suit blazers, would a smart beige trench coat, black trousers, pumps and a blouse look ok? I really want the job...

Do you know the company’s dress code, or if not, is there enough time to find out by having coffee next door and observing what people wear?
I will say that whatever you wear, you need to be comfortable enough that you are focused on the interview and not be distracted by pain in your feet or being cold for example. They should be hiring on the basis of what you bring to the table and not on how fashionable or pleasing your appearance is.
That being said, I still think making a bit of effort to look professional is a good idea. A non wrinkled shirt tucked into dark trousers, flat leather close toed shoes or ankle boots are a safe choice. I’d add a structured bag for your stuff, a watch for jewellery and a wool warm coat as it’s quite chilly now.
Whatever you end up wearing, remember they care more about what you say. Break a leg

@bellalou1234 What industry is it? For an office role in engineering (casual industry) I wore black skinny jeans (very dark so didn't look denim), black jumper with white shirt under (shirt collar showing) and black low heel boots.

It's a nursing role, community not hospital so won't be wearing a uniform

Dress (just below the knee) black thickish tights and smart ankle boots. Nice make up (not too heavy) simple jewellery.

Yes I'd say the exact same. Dress, tights and smart boots. I work in the NHS and wore this for my last interview aswell and it's my daily office wear, as do most of my colleagues.

I ordered stiff from next none fit.. so I wore a stippy shirt - the same one I'd worn 4 years previously for an interview and black trousers with loafer shoes...must be my lucky shirt! I got it!!! Now need to start shopping for work clothes. I'll try and get the feel of the place firsrt
