Hi

No judgement please.

I've noticed tonight whilst looking in the mirror as I brushed my teeth that the inside of one of my back teeth is really black in the middle. It's really worried me. I brush my teeth two or three a days but haven't been blessed with the nicest teeth. I will call my dentist and make an appointment in the morning but in the meantime does anyone know what they might be able to say or do. I don't want black teeth 😫

Is it not a filling?
Does it hurt?

Anewuser · 27/02/2023 20:28

Isn’t that just a filling?

U1sce · 27/02/2023 20:28

It looks like an old silver filling? If not, then its probably a cavity and you'll need a filling

Rosesara · 27/02/2023 20:32

Yes I think there was an old filling there, but it's just so black, I never remembered it looking so black 😐

It doesn't hurt, I just noticed it tonight as I was brushing my teeth by the bathroom mirror as opposed to the sink as I normally do.

Has it been root filled? Mine went black after a root filling (root canal)

It just looks like and old Filling and slightly worn tooth.

No one will notice it it's not in your smile line

Can you guess has select many hours the dentist.

WhisperingAutistic · 27/02/2023 20:45

The fillings in my back teeth look that colour. I went to the dentist for my normal check up last month and didn't need any treatment.
I think the back ones just go darker over time.

AnneKipankitoo · 27/02/2023 20:47

It’s an amalgam filling.

snowbellsxox · 27/02/2023 20:48

Is it your wisdom tooth you mean? Mines gone black no pain needs removing asap

AnneKipankitoo · 27/02/2023 20:48

It might have been silver and shiny to start but it has oxidised now.

snowbellsxox · 27/02/2023 20:49

Do you mean that tooth behind your filling? Right right at the back

risstpolloi · 27/02/2023 20:49

Looks like a filling.

Rosesara · 27/02/2023 20:50

Thanks everyone you have reassured me, however its a good reminder to me that I do need to book a check up.

I'm meaning this giant black mess.

There is one other tooth right at the back that think that's a wisdom tooth.

Yes that is a filling.

userxx · 27/02/2023 21:10

It's a filing.

snowbellsxox · 27/02/2023 21:13

Mine's identical to this, large filling and then my wisdom tooth has gone black too
Having all my wisdom teeth out
Yours looks partially through like mine

icelolly12 · 27/02/2023 21:44

It's a filling, how have you not noticed this before 😂

whoruntheworldgirls · 27/02/2023 21:48

Yep the fillings i got when i was a teenager are that colour now, not nice but i dont fancy the drilling or the cost to replace them with white ones

PinotPony · 27/02/2023 21:53

It's a filling. They're meant to be black. Have you not looked before?
