For a few years now I have had my hair bleached balayage style. Before that I used to dye it dark brown using box dye.

Every time I go to the hair dressers it costs me £150ish and it doesn't look much different. Last time they gave me a trainee and it's....not awful but not great. I thought she would be supervised but she wasn't and it didn't cost much less than having a more experienced person. I'm also struggling for time to get it done which means I'm walking round with my grey roots hanging out longer than I would like whereas with a box dye I could just do it when I can.

How bad would it be if i just got a brown box dye and just dyed the whole lot?

Do you have a training salon near you? Worth checking out as it could be considerably cheaper than what you are paying. It might be worth considering.

You need to make sure the lighter/blonde bits don’t go green so you’d need a warm brown, or to use a red dye to fill in the blonde first. You‘ll need to apply the dye to the lighter bits for longer but it will wash out of those bits quicker too and need a bit of maintenance to keep one colour.
