Too early for a comfortable sandal thread?

I’ve got a holiday in a few weeks and it will be warm enough for sandals but we will be doing a lot of walking
I struggle with balancing comfort with not too frumpy and have just bought these
opinions please and any alternatives

I love the brand fitflops. They don't do just flip flops. Like walking on a cloud. Loads of support

QueueEtwo · 27/02/2023 21:45

It's never too early Jace 🤣

I've bought these already from M&S, had to size down because I'm not a wide fitting!

Birkenstock all the way.

QueueEtwo · 27/02/2023 21:50

Ah I see you're looking for advice on your sandals . I think they look quite nice, are they Gabor?

Invisablewoman · 27/02/2023 21:54

I bought some Uber comfy (but not frumpy) sandals from Hotter last year.

endofthelinefinally · 27/02/2023 21:59

I love Hotter sandals and never buy anything else. They are so comfortable and well made and they last and last. I buy them in the sale at the end of the season.

Saltwater sandals are very comfortable and waterproof www.salt-watersandals.com/gb-en/

StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf · 27/02/2023 22:06

I only wear Birkenstocks and Saltwaters. The Saltwaters are amazingly comfortable around the top of my foot but a bit flat for lots of walking on hard surfaces so I keep them for sand and watery things that would ruin the Birkies. I have my eye on the newer Saltwaters with a chunkier sole.

Winter41 · 27/02/2023 22:10

I love saltwater and Birkenstock

Pointblank2 · 27/02/2023 22:11

I second fitflops. Also Vionic sandals with a built in orthotic insole

VivietteConstantine · 27/02/2023 22:11

Yes it's way too early I'm still in thermal everything 😆
Another vote for Fitflop they do lots of lovely sandals.

mdinbc · 27/02/2023 22:19

Check out Naots. They tend to have a bit narrower footbed than Birkenstock, and more options with straps on the heels.

WhereAreWeNow · 27/02/2023 22:20

I like those OP. I'd wear them. I find Gabor comfortable. I also like Fitflop summer sandals but their prices have sky rocketed.

mdinbc · 27/02/2023 22:20

Oh, and I do like those that you chose. They will go with anything.

toomuchfaster · 27/02/2023 22:35

Do any come with toe-posts? I want to be able to drive in them too? Thanks

toomuchfaster · 27/02/2023 22:38

I should qualify: with tie posts and ankle straps, I can't see any on the fitflop website ( and most of them are waaay out of my price range!).

JaceLancs · 27/02/2023 22:53

Yes they are Gabor - which normally are too wide for me but I went down a size
I have a few pairs of fit flops from
previous years but the slip
on mule type - I did buy some sandal style ones last summer but they gave me blisters so sold on eBay after 2 wears

They were in sale 1/2 price which helped my decision and I don’t have any other tan sandals
you have all reminded me that I bought some yellow hotter sandals in a sale last autumn and no idea where I put them away to!

I know they're a bit of a cliche on here but I really love my rose gold saltwaters - seem to go with everything and are SO comfortable. And if not saltwaters, my khaki Birkenstocks which are about 23 years old and still going strong!

EasterIssland · 27/02/2023 23:38

Birkenstock but they’re starting to be so expensive. The new pair I like £124. I must resist
