Having it done this morning but not sure what to expect. How accurate is it or is it a bit more of a novelty than really useful?

I know they do it to sell products but in my experience No7 counter staff don't do the hard sell (and I'm perfectly capable of walking away if they try it).

I've only ever tried a few bits from them, never any of their skincare. I feel like I need to go back to basics with my skincare.

I guess no one is interested but just in case... I'm not sure it was worth it.

It said my skin was dry. Anyone looking at it will tell you that is not the case and the lady acknowledhed it tends to always say that. It also said my pores weren't noticable but they are my main concern. It scans your forehead, eye, side of cheek and jawline, none of which have visible pores. If it did around my nose or actual cheeks it would give a different result! It said I had a fair few fine lines which I didn't think I did but apparently the magnification shows them before I can see them which I guess makes sense.

As ever, the lady was very helpful and knew her stuff. I went wanting a new skin care routine and came home with one. Apparently you're meant to go back in a few weeks to see if the stuff is working but I don't know if I'll bother.

Gutted to find out they've discontinued beautifully matte light foundation and they only seem to have "dewy" or full coverage foundations now. 😪

Ooh not heard of it - do you pay for it?

It's free. They use a little machine to take close up pictures of your skin and analyse oils/pores etc and make suggestions on products.

TBH I think it fell into "novelty" category for me. An in depth chat with the consultant would do the same.

It took about an hour but did involve a lot of discussions about products.

Hi OP! I had this as we had finally got rid of masks at work and wanted to treat myself to a new foundation.

I can’t remember the exact results but I was pleasantly surprised by them. I was pregnant at the time, so maybe it looked better because of that. It feels incredibly oily and generally crap at the moment so might go back when I get the time.

I did buy a nice foundation from them and still use it as my go to when I fancy putting some make up on.

I never went for skincare so not sure why she used that machine…

How are you finding the new products?

Namechange101111 · 01/03/2023 15:25

@MissJam
The machine matches foundation too. 😊

I needed a new routine and had quite a few points and an offer so bought Lift and luminate day cream, night cream, serum and eye cream as well as a random no7 face wash and cream cleanser. She used a micellar water on me which burned so I gave that a miss! She originally showed me a different range which I guess was what the machine suggested.

I haven't had time to test them properly. The cleanser is a bit stingy and doesn't feel all that pleasant. The face wash is OK and doesn'f leave a film but I've not tried it with make up yet. The serum feels nice. The eye cream is a bit greasy and stingy. The moisturisers seem good and don't leave me oily or feel heavy. None of it wowed me but as I say, I've not had chance to try it properly yet. My skin was left damaged and sore after my previous products so they've also got that to contend with.

The range is designed for women much older than me and the machine said I didn't really have lines/wrinkles so I'm not sure how I ended up with it. 🤣

I got some foundation samples too as they discontinued the one I was using. I've tried one today and I'm not loving it. What do you use?

To be honest it sounds like they didn't really give you products that suit your skin at all. They shouldn't be stinging when you apply them.

If the cleanser is stinging it might have alcohol in it, or just be stripping your skin. Maybe try a gentle cream cleanser. Also, what is the difference between a face wash and a cleanser - I thought they did the same thing?

What is your skin type, and/or concerns? What would you like to achieve?

What was your routine before this? What products did you use before that irritated your skin? Possibly some of these products have the same ingredients that are irritating.

MissJam · 01/03/2023 15:57

Ah that makes sense re the foundation! Its hydraluminous moisturising foundation. I also got the double ended brush and I quite like the pair tbh. I’ve only used it once post birth and my skin is considerably greasier than it was so it might not suit anymore.

Sorry to hear you’ve spent a small fortune on stuff you might not like. What were you using before that damaged it?

Mu favourite serum is Avon Anew but I’d love to try the Clarins one. Can’t really justify the price at the moment 😂

Absolutely re the cleanser. My skin can be a bit weird so I'm going to give it a couple of days and if it still stings I'll take it back.

I like to wash in the morning and do a more thorough cleanse in the evening. I like to double cleanse and bought the cleanser to do that but it isn't suitable.

Right now, I just want not angry skin. 🤣

OP I think if your skin is acting up maybe the excessive cleansing is not helping. Could you try just cleansing once a day with a very gentle cleanser for a while and see if that helps to calm your skin down?

Yes, I am not double cleansing at the moment. One of the reasons I'm not wearing make up. Obviously I need to clean before bed and water isn't enough in the morning.
