Box Colour to get this colour?!! (Pics)

I’m dithering about hair colour (again!) I really like this colour and I suppose I just want a change but I’m a bit scared to take the plunge incase it ends up a disaster & I mess up & end up with an expensive mistake!

So my hair is a dyed mid-dark brown at the moment. I’ve had it like this for a while. Naturally I’m a redhead. I don’t know why but I seem suit brown & dark brown, I don’t suit blonde very well at all. I have a fair, freckly complexion & brown eyes.

The pics are the colour I quite like, burgundy? Is there a box dye that will get my hair like that? If so, what brand & shade would you think? Has anyone else dyed their hair this colour & achieved similar results? or would I have to bleach first, in which case I wouldn’t do as I don’t want to wreck my hair. I can’t afford salon prices at the moment.

If you're already brunette, you shouldn't need to bleach to get that colour. I would use a demi permanent like L'Oréal Castings to add the mahogany tone. They have a shade called Mahogany as well as a Burgundy.

Schwarzkopf Oleo intense do a burgundy colour that takes well. Should do the trick

So I’ve got this on atm

www.garnier.co.uk/our-brands/hair-colour/color-sensation/4-15-icy-chestnut-brown-permanent-hair-dye

I was out & didn’t have hardly anytime & just grabbed it! (And I was too chicken to pick up the brighter red colour!)

To be honest, I’m not really expecting to achieve the results like the pics of what I wanted. As long as it doesn’t go black or deep purple, I’m ok!

Good luck! I'm thinking of trying a box dye too, for the first time in several years as salon colouring is so expensive. I used to find they conditioned my hair pretty well so worth a try at least.

That’s a lovely colour. I would like that myself.

Well it’s very very dark! Before I rinsed it off I rubbed a bit with a wet wipe & it looked black! So I washed it twice, once with head & shoulders, the last bit in the bottle. I’ll to get some more.

After drying it, it’s still very dark brown, near black. It may well be because my hair was dark & dyed to begin with. There’s no real ‘red/ruby/mahogany tones to it at all probably because it’s so dark. I would imagine a better result on lighter brown hair. I didn’t apply it to my roots either because they were lighter than my lengths & I was afraid of root glow, that they would turn bright red, so I have light brown/coppery roots & dark brown/black lengths, ugh. I hoping it’ll wash up over the next couple of weeks as I don’t want to be messing about with any more hair dyes, I’ll leave it for a bit. I could do with a colour shampoo to give it some warmth, but not applying it at the roots.
