Pale people using tretinoin

I’ve always been deathly pale but this used to be offset by my multitude of freckles. I’ve been using tretinoin for several years now and, as you might expect, it has erased all pigmentation (damage) from my face including all my freckles. I now look even paler… ill rather than interesting. I think as we age we lose pigmentation and run the risk of looking more washed out anyway. I would ideally use self tanning drops or other tanning product, but I can’t work out how to put them into my routine since I feel like the tret strips that off as quick as I’m putting it on as well. Has anyone found a solution?

Yeah tretinoin speeds up turnover so fake tan doesn't stick around for very long. There's also some speculation that fake tan is pro-ageing and it does dehydrate your skin quite a bit so it's not ideal.

Gel bronzer does the trick though, Perricone MD no bronzer bronzer is nice, just blends into the skin without it actually looking like bronzer. Just apply it in a sort of contour/shading way for more dimension.

A more high risk strategy is to apply henna to mimic freckles but this can go really wrong, there's a very entertaining video on YouTube out there.

I use tret twice a week- any more than that and I start to get dry, flaky skin. I’m very pale and use tan luxe super glow each morning. It doesn’t make me look orange and tanned but gives a subtle amount of colour and a glow so I don’t look ill. I also use foundation and feel I have managed to get the balance of using tret and being pale just about right
