Paris - what to wear in evening - teenage boy

Hi - I'd love a view please from anyone that has visited Paris recently (or lives there). We're off to Paris in spring and will be eating out every night. What would be acceptable for a 15 yo boy to wear for dinner (not planning anywhere fancy, just standard restaurants / bistros). I am trying to wrestle him out of his beloved joggers to no avail. He hates jeans but said he'd consider something like cargo trousers if he absolutely has to. Is it that important? Can he just wear what he likes? I've not been to Paris for years so am clueless. Many thanks!

Just returned. The euro teen uniform is jeans or dark cotton trousers. Cargoes are fine as long as they are not camouflage. Tee shirt, dark hoodie, padded jacket, dark trainers (casual, not sport).

He can wear what he likes, no one will bat an eye unless you're going to some three star Michelin gastronomy temple.

Aaaahhh... what a lovely idea. Took our DCs to Paris in October and it sparked an almost obsession with Paris and French in my 13 year old. I wish we were going again this year (not planned for- but might happen).

Ours just wore navy blue cotton jeans (Boden) with raglan long sleeved shirts and hoodies with a cotton sweater for anywhere slightly more upmarket.

Thanks for your replies - quite a mixed bag. He doesn't own a plain hoody or jeans which he refuses to wear; he's very much into branded stuff (Hoodrich, Nike etc). I think I'll probably buy him a pair of black cargo trousers just in case. I'm hoping that Botemp is right. Grin

He'll be fine in joggers as long as you aren't eating in Michelin starred places.

I meant to add, don't make a battle out of it. You will all enjoy yourself more if you just let him be himself. French teenagers are generally not very smart. Joggers or jeans and hoodie is the standard uniform.

He’ll be absolutely fine in branded joggers and hoodies. It’s a standard 15yr old uniform in most of Europe! Whatever he wears no during the day/out to eat/seeing friends will be perfectly acceptable, it’s just like any other city!

Thanks, FrenchFancy. There is no way he'll compromise on his 'look' bar these cargo trousers, but hopefully all will be ok. Have to admire him really, his fashion is his fashion.
