Replacement for Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser

It seems it’s very much out of stock and there’s very little info on whether it’s due back in soon or discontinued. So I’m in the market for a replacement - happy to spend similar amount (£30-40). And am open to a BB cream. Don’t want anything too heavy.

I use the porcelain at the moment - I need something that has a good pale end to the range!

Has anyone switched from Bobbi Brown to another and never gone back?

Same problem here. Tried asking the chat person on BB website when it was back in stock. They wouldn’t talk to me until I gave my email address. That annoyed me so I said no. I said I’ve been a BB customer since the beginning (over 25 years?) but no dice. So they’ve just lost a customer.

I am going to try Laura Mercier, £40, three tinted moisturisers in the range but I am going for the one with SPF30. Like you I am very pale, they seem to have a good range. I am going to try a couple of colours in a store. Too expensive to risk choosing online.

vincettenoir · 21/02/2023 16:36

Another for the Laura Mercier one.

LemonVerbana · 21/02/2023 16:38

£37 in Boots!

CastleTower · 21/02/2023 16:39

Same problem as you - and also porcelain! Why has it disappeared do you think?

I had the Laura Mercier years ago, but didn't find the colour as good for me, as I need something so light.

I have some liquid foundation from MAC, and obviously their colour range is great, but I don't know if they do anything more lightweight that is good.

Following with interest!

Madamswearsalot · 21/02/2023 19:46

@LemonVerbana how rubbish that the chat function wouldn’t answer your question.

Definitely needs a trip to try in store.

@CastleTower i’m never sure why they discontinue things and they never say which is so annoying.

I do think that quality of BB has dropped off a bit - the gel eyeliner seemed to get shorter every time I bought a new one and it broke off a couple of times last time I got one so I’ve stopped buying it.

I have found this website: skinskoolbeauty.com/dupes/bobbi-brown/nude-finish-tinted-moisturizer-spf-15-1b2f2c6a they suggest alternatives for the product you like based on ingredients. According to them Tom Ford is closest (but is around £50 and currently only has three darker shades available) and Origins is next - so might give that a test if I can find it in boots or John Lewis.

Will also try Laura Mercia - looks like a good range of colours.

I can recommend Armani Neo Nude, marketed as a foundation but very light and similar to BB in terms of coverage.

CalmDownBoris72 · 24/02/2023 16:49

I’ve recently bought the Nars tinted moisturiser after loosing my make up bag with my Bobbi brown one it. I love the Nars, my skin breaks out very easily and that’s not happened and it makes my skin look amazing with a small amount. I was going to get Laura Mercier but space NK didn’t have my shade in stock.

TheSpottedZebra · 24/02/2023 16:56

Erborian BB cream! 8 switched from BB tinted moisturiser, via Laura Mercier, also that Complexion Rescue one from the brand that did the mineral powders (forget the name!). Much prefer the BB cream.

The colour range isn't huge but I too was porcelain and I use Clair.

Hope this link works.
This in Ivory is very similar to the BB one and a lovely texture and price.

NattyNamechanger · 24/02/2023 17:26

I should add it was too pale for me so I changed to the Erborian in Clair.
Depends how pale you are!

Ladybaga · 24/02/2023 17:34

I switched to the fit me matte foundation from Maybelline and its about the same coverage, ie not too heavy. Lots of fair shades too. I use with Glossier Futuredew which I love, to get the same type of sheen.

Madamswearsalot · 25/02/2023 07:58

Thank you for the suggestions - I’ll head into Space nk next week to try out the Erborian and the NARS. If I can find the origin for a test I’ll report back.

Hi,

In October, the head office said it would be back in January as they were having supply issues.

I chased it up again in Feb and they confirmed it was discontinued but a new formula of the tinted moisturiser is being launched in July!

Jones Road is a newish make up brand by Bobbi Brown- apparently it focuses on ‘barely there’ looking make-up. I have read their foundation balm is like a tinted moisturiser.

I’ve only just heard about it but the fact its a Bobbi Brown brand suggests it will be good. It’s available in Liberty.

CaptainWentworth · 29/03/2023 12:48

I really like the NARS tinted moisturiser- have bought Laura Mercier in the past but prefer the NARS as it’s less greasy feeling (although still moisturising), is a better colour match on me and gives a perfect level of coverage IMO.

I have it in Terre Neuve which I think is the lightest shade. For reference I was colour matched to 2.5 in Bobbi Brown Skin foundation and 1W1 Ivory in Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere.

Konyeshno · 29/03/2023 13:03

I'm another BB porcelain; never found another base pale enough for me.
A couple of weeks ago I had a makeover on the BB counter and the lady said it had been discounted but a new version or replacement line was coming in June.

They are also phasing out powder eyeshadow in favour of the cream sticks, so start stashing if you have a favourite!

Konyeshno · 29/03/2023 13:04

Or what ZCH said. Blush

Fluffodils · 29/03/2023 13:05

Chanel CC cream

Stravawindow · 29/03/2023 18:17

OP, it’s been discontinued but they are bringing out a new one in June.

Soerdu · 09/05/2023 16:50

@ZCH
Thank you so much for this. Today I went out to shop for 3 of my basics that are running low and I was told all three were discontinued! (All different companies). I hate it when I have to spend loads of money trying new things to find a good replacement. Really helpful comment, thank you!

Madamswearsalot · 09/05/2023 21:17

Thank you for all the recommendations everyone. And thank you @ZCH for the info on the new brand. I’m not near a liberty but will have a look online. I will say that the scant information and the fact that Bobbi Brown are regularly out of stock with various products I use means I’m falling out of love with them and feeling a bit grumpy about supporting a new brand.

I finally got myself to SpaceNK and came out with the NARS tinted moisturiser. I did what I often do when I get to a beauty counter - panicked! I’m a grown woman but put me in front of a beauty consultant and I turn into a 13 yr old again.

Anyway, I tried the erborian but the cc cream, which was way too light. Forgot I was asking for the bb cream. Still nearly bought it in a fit of ‘just get what the lady has given you’ but managed to gather myself enough to ask about the NARS. I really like it - more coverage than the Bobbi Brown. Possibly not as true on the colour match but lasts really well, and sits nicely on my skin.

Glad others have also found this thread useful.

Yes abut the gel eyeliner! I hardly ever finish a product as I have too much, but that one I always get through and am shocked when it’s gone so quickly?

Regarding tinted moisturiser - Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue (although some supply chain issues there too) and It Cosmetics CC

Just realised I’m a bit late!
