Would it be weird to wear a summery dress to a winter evening event?

I have to go to a party in NYC next week - I don't have a lot of going-out clothes and the ones I do have are mostly from summer weddings. Eg this (this is a link to it on ebay but I already have it). What do you think? Is it OK or do I need something more evening-y/wintery?

I think that one's going to be tricky to style out OP.
February is still usually really cold in NY, but maybe with some knee length heeled tan boots and a jacket? I think it's the colour - it does look very summer garden party to me I'm afraid.

It's tricky. I personally wouldn't but it's also probably not feasible to buy a winter going out dress?

The dress does look a bit too summery for this kind of cold.

You might try putting a longish, loose velvet jacket over it- not a coat but to be kept on indoors with suede boots, both picking up the darkest colour in the dress

but if you're doing that you might as well just buy a long sleeved velvet dress or similar.

It's a pretty dress , but it's not a winter dress.
