A week to glow up

I have a reunion in just over a week and I want to look good. I'd like to look less drab/ dull/ worn out. The majority of people going to the reunion haven't been sleep deprived from years of child raising. I normally feel comfortable/confident but this event has me stressing. What things can I do at home on a tight budget?
I have already booked to have hair trimmed and a bought a nice dress. Please help me to feel glam!

Do your eyebrows, paint your nails and toes, put fake tan on. Use a good face cream preferably one with vitamin c for a glow. Make sure you get sleep Aswell and drink water. That’s what helps me.

Thank you for taking the time to reply!
I've started with drinking copious amounts of water today. I've never used a face cream (I normally have oily/acne prone skin rather than dry skin). I worry that a face cream might add to the blocked pores?
Painting my nails is definitely something I can do though! I will wait until closer to the time so it can't chip off.

If you’re not a face cream user, maybe try a moisturising sheet mask instead? It’s lighter and is a one-off item so if it doesn’t suit you, nothing wasted

If you want to start using face creams, since you have normal / oily skin, look for something hydrating (adds water) rather than rich and moisturising (adds oil). If you want some low-cost but powerful skin products, look at The Ordinary (in Boots) - their Buffet serum is a classic.

More generally, self tan drops are a great way to add a temporary glow - just pop a few drops in your foundation or any face products, blend it in and apply, then they develop over a few hours

Finally, try your new dress on a few times before the event and make sure you feel comfortable and happy with how it looks, feels, any accessories, shoes, etc. Feeling good helps you to look good!

I can highly recommend using this sheet mask on the morning of your event. It makes my (slightly oily) skin really radiant for the rest of the day. www.boots.com/garnier-brightening-and-super-hydrating-vitamin-c-sheet-mask-28g-10305119

An Epsom salts bath (also in the morning) always makes me feel all smooth and glowy too (and it helps with any bloating if this is an issue for you).

I would add a luxurious cashmere pashmina to your dress, some beautiful drop earrings and a clutch. A blow dry is more important than anything else for some volume. Expensive scent. Be confident in yourself.

I am learning things! I had no idea there were different face creams to add oil/water. I will look into it. But it seems a mask may be a quick-fix thing that would help for the reunion. Glowy is kind of the look I wanted so it's perfect. Also never knew that baths could help with bloating- I've cut out drinks other than water to flush out any bloat for this week.

Blow drys are another story. I just don't have the skill. I mean, I blow dry my hair to dry it, but not to style it, it always needs a straighten/curler afterwards to sort out the mess!

Perricone 3 day diet will help loads.

Pumpkin20222 · 20/02/2023 19:32

All of the above advice - particularly water, sleep and moisturiser. I would do a trial of minimal make-up if you don't usually wear it.

Eat the rainbow of fruit and veg and drink lots of water, it will make you glow from the inside out.

Do some cardio exercise every day, it does wonders for your skin
