Swimwear that covers!

Anybody else really relieved that nowadays there is so much swimwear available for pool and beach that doesn't involve having it all hang out?!

Now it seems there's so much more fashionable wear available for the beach/ swimming which doesn't only cover but also lots of uv protective gear that's nice as well as practical.

I own 2 short sleeve and a long sleeve surf t shirt from decathlon.
A few crop top style bikini tops I wear underneath.
Bikini shorts, high waisted bottoms and also wear the cycle/ running shorts or the Lycra ribbed cycle shorts.

And is there any tricks I'm missing with regards beachwear/ swimwear I need to know about?

I have a holiday to CP in the summer and live near the coast so will be swimming, beach and canoeing on the river lots.

If you've found this page in search of swimwear that has been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best swimsuits for women useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Triathlon suit or legsuits are great for coverage.

I like the primark mens swimshorts, they have them in pretty much every colour so you can match with a tankini top or rashvest, they have drawstring waist and often a zip up pocket, plus they're very cheap unlike womens swim shorts which always seem to be really expensive.

Oh yes mens swim shorts. I use to wear board shorts (skimpy ones when I was young and slim 🤣) but they would be great with a surf t shirt.

I unfortunately don't have the shape for one of the all in one swim suits with boy legs.

Wide hips and rounded belly but my legs are ok so it's my top half I want to cover but with loose clothing rather than tight iyswim?

I have the opposite problem but with my back. There are so few deep scooped back swimsuits out there.

Swim shorts from Amazon (and other places). Like cycling shorts but with pants sewn in. I’m trying mine out tomorrow with a bikini top and a sports t shirt. Might get a rash vest soon. I’m not overweight but I’m too old for all on show.

I looked at those earlier. £17.99. I'd be interested to hear your opinion after you've tried them out.

I want coverage but also want something I can wear at night in the rapids at CP without getting cold and/or ripping my arse to spreads 🫣🤣

Go on. Give us a clue. Where is CP?

redspottedmug · 19/02/2023 19:05

CP = Center Parcs.

Watching with interest. I like a tankini, and also have Decathlon shorts.

itsgettingweird · 19/02/2023 19:31

Yes centre parcs!

Decathlon swimwear is very good and quite sturdy. Ds wears their jammers for training and their goggles.

Beware decathlon jammers are rubbish on CP slides! Very grippy.

LarkRize · 19/02/2023 19:59

Try Finisterre, they have long sleeved swimwear as well as total covers and bikinis…

Ds has male swim shirts from Tesco which have always worked.

He has the summer off after British champs so he doesn't touch a pair of jammers or goggles Grin

Shorts not shirts!
