I have some random questions if anybody wants to indulge me

1: if your Autumn and Winter wardrobe essentially revolves around black polo necks, what is your Spring equivalent?
2: if you wanted to wear trainers not white) with a midi skirt in February, would you go bare legged, nude tights, black tights or fishnets?
3: if your skin feels all itchy and tight when you wake up, what product would you be looking for?
4: what top (casual) would you wear with wide leg black trousers and trainers?
5: if you’re getting too old/dry skinned for Double Wear, what have you replaced it with?
6: if you wanted a casual black midi skirt or a leopard print midi skirt where might you look?

Any thoughts on any of the above much appreciated! 😂🤪

I can only do 3 and 5.

La Roche Posay Toleriane moisturizer should sort your face out (can't see what product you've linked to as my phone won't take me there) what else do you put on your face at night?

I'm just finishing a Doublewear Sheer (the so-called replacement for Doublewear) it's not. It's pretty useless. Won't be repurchasing. I love Erborian BB and N7 Hydraluminous but I'm waiting on a delivery of an Estée Lauder Futurist. Thought I'd give it a bash as I can't get N7 out here and the Futurist comes in the same colour as the Doublewear so I know it works on me.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/02/2023 20:18

Thanks @mewkins ! I'm sure I'll have another random list before too long.

@Vitriolinsanity I'm confused! Did you mean to post a link?

The Futurist is the one I got a sample of today. I tried a tiny dot and it seems quite nice. Will try it properly tomorrow.

I have a thin black merino wool polo neck from Arket. Bought it last March but pretty sure they still do them.

EllaPaella · 19/02/2023 20:21

Sorry ignore me, I misread the post!

Ooh good! I've been researching a lot and it seemed the nearest to my beloved Hydraluminous.

(Every top I own is M&S, Cos or Arket but I think you've got those covered!)

OxanaVorontsova · 19/02/2023 20:23

Love EL futurist, so easy to wear

mewkins · 19/02/2023 20:33

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/02/2023 20:17

Nothing in Arket - annoying because I have a perfect blue/white one from there, but they never seem to have black.

I've ordered this one but fear the neck will be too high and tight. I like the loose sleeves though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/02/2023 20:36

Ooh I think that might be the one I have in blue - I've never seen it in black! It comes up huge if it's the same one.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/02/2023 20:37

Actually @mewkins Ignore me - the sleeves are different on mine. I like that though and will keep my eye out for it.

I've ordered a small but suspect I may have to swap it for smaller. We'll see. I also ordered the short trench (on a whim) and reckon it might swamp me 😬

DelphiniumBlue · 19/02/2023 23:26

I'm still pondering the tights/ trainers question.
I did post on another thread about wearing cropped leggings, and yes it does leave a chilly ankle problem if the temperature is really low. But in London ( did you say you were planning a trip here?) the temperature is more than 10 degrees during the day at the moment, so I think id bite the bullet if I really had to wear trainers.
However I'm finding DMs a practical alternative, and I do wear those with black or dark coloured opaque with a midi.
I'm thinking sheer black tights or subtly patterned lower denier ones might work too. I think black opaques with trainers can look a bit heavy, I don't think they'd work with a lighter colour, and I suspect they might look a bit frumpy with a darker one.
Maybe they'd work with your leopard print skirt if you manage to track one down!

DelphiniumBlue · 19/02/2023 23:28

I think I saw a dark blue leopard print pleated skirt in Jigsaw, btw. Very nice!

Girlinglasses · 19/02/2023 23:39

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie try adding hyaluronic acid to your skin routine, before moisturiser, on slightly damp face, if you think it could be caused by dry skin. It pulls in moisture from the air and is really hydrating. It's not an acidy acid (if that makes sense) in that it is almost the same PH as your skin. The ordinary 2% on is good, and only about £6!

StellaGibson2022 · 19/02/2023 23:50

Not to derail but for all those in the know about skirts and trainers (not white) what trainers are you wearing?

QueueEtwo · 20/02/2023 07:46

I saw an advert for Doublewear sheer yesterday!

Was very tempted but because I don't wear Doublewear I have no idea what shade I would need so I'm going to visit a counter!

there is a thread on this at the moment

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/02/2023 08:06

@DelphiniumBlue I agree that opaques look wrong with almost all trainers. I’ve got black leather Paul Smiths that work with opaque but only with a mini skirt. I’ve had a bit of a trying on session with my New Balance and midi and decided that lacy tights work best!

@Girlinglasses Have got an old bottle of H acid somewhere. Will dig it out and slap some on!

@StellaGibson2022 I’m favouring New Balance. I’ve got a couple of different pairs - all very comfortable but some uglier than others!

Leopard print skirt must be vaguely leopard coloured with no pleats or flounces.

1: if your Autumn and Winter wardrobe essentially revolves around black polo necks, what is your Spring equivalent?

  • white or cream silk shirts

3: if your skin feels all itchy and tight when you wake up, what product would you be looking for?
Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum morning and night + decent moisturiser

5: if you’re getting too old/dry skinned for Double Wear, what have you replaced it with?
I’ve switched to this: www.maybelline-me.com/en-gcc/face/foundation/dream-satin-liquid

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/02/2023 08:42

@LapinR0se I love white and cream shirts, but I look dreadful in them, unfortunately.

I've got some Night Repair knocking around too - will get it out again. Generally, I don't think it justifies the astonishingly high price tag, but I've got some samples left over from previous purchases.

I wear vans hi tops or old black Nike internationalist. I also like coloured trainers. I don't really do white.

WMA · 11/03/2023 18:10

1: Black long sleeve tops.

2: Would never ever do this. Simple plimsoles are one thing, never trainers. This time of year the weather changes daily, so whatever works with the shoes or boots you choose.

3: No idea.

4: A fitted top usually looks best with a baggier or wide legged trouser.

5: Have you tried a BB tinted foundation?

6: Checkout Next online, they have loads of different brands on there now.

Update:
1: if your Autumn and Winter wardrobe essentially revolves around black polo necks, what is your Spring equivalent?
Still struggling with this one
2: if you wanted to wear trainers not white) with a midi skirt in February, would you go bare legged, nude tights, black tights or fishnets?
I wore fishnets
3: if your skin feels all itchy and tight when you wake up, what product would you be looking for?
Have stopped using the Clinique wash and skin feels much better
4: what top (casual) would you wear with wide leg black trousers and trainers?
I've just been wearing a fitted-ish black jumper
5: if you’re getting too old/dry skinned for Double Wear, what have you replaced it with?
Bought Futurist and am really pleased with it
6: if you wanted a casual black midi skirt or a leopard print midi skirt where might you look?
I bought a Calvin Klein knitted black midi, which I like so much that I might buy another and found a leopard print skirt in John Lewis own brand sale. I also like this one and might be tempted for spring/summer.
