Anyone else who doesn’t do jeans with trainers?

Or is it just me?

Me. It would make me feel ridiculous for some reason. Like an overgrown teenager.

Probably because the last time I wore this look I was about 14

Ruthy45 · 19/02/2023 02:36

I'm the same, I don't think the jeans/trainers combo suits me or dress/trainers, looks good on others but I feel like it looks as though I'm trying to be edgy and failing miserably 😂

Goatinthegarden · 19/02/2023 03:01

I used to live in jeans at the weekend, pre-pandemic. I’d wear boots, sandals, trainers, espadrilles, loafers…anything really with them.

Now, I only have one pair of super skinny jeans and they’re hardly ever worn. I don’t like any of the current loose fitting jeans trends on me. I seem to mostly wear dresses, smarter work trousers or gym gear. I spend a lot of time in sports clothes and trainers (actually being active) so prefer wearing other footwear when in ‘real’ clothes….but I do concede to a smarter white leather trainer with a dress on occasion….because even though I try not to be, I end up a bit of a sheep when it comes to fashion.

Me

i never wear jeans with trainers

TheDead · 19/02/2023 03:50

I have a couple of pairs of trainers. All new balance but various pairs & styles..

I have not worn jeans since 2019. So I don't wear my trainers with jeans

In the last few weeks I bought wide legged COS jeans but I've only worn whistles black laced ankle boots with them so far

Me! I usually wear calf-length boots with skinny jeans; trainers or ankle boots with bootcut jeans.

D^oes anyone else not do jeans with trainers.....

Me. I wear trainers with bootcut jeans....

😐^

journeyofinsanity · 19/02/2023 07:16

Depends on what is meant by trainers.

Sports trainers designed for actual sports vs sports inspired street wear shoes like Nike Airforce vs sneakers that don't really look like sports shoes at all like Converse, Superga etc.

Highlighta · 19/02/2023 07:25

Me.

I only wear trainers if I'm doing something sporty/wearing gym leggings.

With jeans I wear sandals, wedge shoes, brogues, boots depending on the season.

And never with a dress or skirt either.

But then I don't keep up with all the latest trends, I just wear what suits me, I'm not too bothered if it's classed as out of style.

Although the trainers and jeans style was in in the 80s so if I wait long enough, the brogues will come back around again 😀

I have really fat ankles and I look ridiculous with trainers on. I wish I didn't as I think they look great on other people. I can't do the midi dress with white trainers for the same reason.

BreviloquentBastard · 19/02/2023 07:34

Hope none of you saying "trainers are exclusively for sport, I wouldn't dream of wearing them for anything else" wear Chelsea boots for anything other that horse riding or deck shoes for anything other than boating 🙄

I don't think anyone is saying trainers are exclusively for sports.

We are only answering a question of how we do or don't wear them.

Queenmargery · 18/02/2023 23:20

I occasionally wear Converse type trainers with jeans but I hate more 'sporty' ones with jeans.

Yes I'm the same, Converse or Rocket Dog but not actual sports shoes.

lovem · 19/02/2023 07:54

I only own trainers and hiking boots. I'd be screwed if I had to go a formal event Grin

GotABeatForYouMama · 19/02/2023 07:59

I haven't worn trainers with anything since I left school 30+ years ago. jeans with hi-tops or boots for me.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 19/02/2023 08:05

That was me until I found some comfy trainers. I always found trainers uncomfortable, especially the label ones, adidas, Nike etc. I have now found some boot type trainers with memory foam inserts and I live in them now. I am in my late 40s so I'm sure they aren't trendy in the slightest

I used to wear boots, mid calf or ankle boots of different styles.

"Trainers are for running in or doing sport in"

Except the literal OP of the post

gogohmm · 19/02/2023 08:17

Me, trainers are for training in, and that alone!

I wear leather boots usually, occasionally converse in high summer

Fairislefandango · 19/02/2023 08:22

Me too. I have some white leather trainers which I hoped would go with dresses and other things, but I just don't think they look right on me!

CouldIHaveThatInEnglishPlease · 19/02/2023 08:36

I’d class converse as a trainer type shoe. Plimsoles for primary school pe days.
i won’t wear them either but that because I think they are ugly and remind me of clowns shoes 😅

I wear boots in autumn and winter, loafers, ballet pumps or sandals in summer.

aside from one one pair of trainers (air force ones) which I wear for gym and sports, I don’t own any shoes with laces

TenoringBehind · 19/02/2023 08:48

Me.

I wear jeans all the time but only with boots.
I have several pairs of trainers that I wear for exercise.

the two together look silly and frumpy on me.

Gotafaceon · 19/02/2023 09:28

I love trainers. Wear them with everything. Have a pair of Chelsea boots, brogues and heels which are all about 6 years old but otherwise trainers.

So much love for the trainers! Good job we're all different eh?!

RaininSummer · 19/02/2023 09:53

I rarely wear trainers. Boots, sandals or fitflops here.

TheOGCCL · 19/02/2023 10:07

Trainers with jeans is normally too casual for me and I feel scruffy and not put together. I’ll wear some dainty white ones but only in spring. In winter I only wear boots, though jeans are often far too cold in winter anyway.

You wouldn't wear the Chelsea boots you find in the shops for horse riding! Though I take your point Grin

I love the trainers and dresses look but it wouldn't suit me.
