I am 41, are these too young for me?

If they’re ok, what would you wear with them on a hen do?! 🌹

They're lovely. Go for it. You're definitely not too old.

I really want velvet DMs but my feet won't manage them any more.

I'm 44 and have the ones on the left and love them. I've had lots of lovely comments on them. I've had them three years now and they still look brand new. They're so comfy too.

I see lots of people our age and above wearing the jazzier docs. I almost got the red roses ones but my local stockist didn't have my size and I couldn't wait so got the others instead

They are gorgeous.

Fizbosshoes · 18/02/2023 23:06

I knew what boots they were going to be before the link opened. I feel sure the same question was asked about the same boots last year! I'm 45 and I would wear them but I'm not especially stylish

MissMaple82 · 18/02/2023 23:11

The boots are amazing. I'm 40. I'd definitely wear them.

Same here - knew it was floral Docs - either the embroidered ones or the all over floral print ones.

Wearingatshirt · 18/02/2023 23:20

I'm going to go from a different perspective here. It depends on you really. If you feel ok about them ie not self conscious about wearing them then go for it. If you're going to feel uncomfortable then dont.
I think anyone can wear docs and jeans will always look good with them. Blue for casual and black jeans for a more dressed up look. Or even red with those ones.
Must admit I've seen a few women in their 50s wearing the white platform style chunky boots lately and it looks like they're trying too hard but docs are classic.
Go for it.

RuthW · 18/02/2023 23:41

If you are over 106 then you are too old.

WordtoYoMumma · 19/02/2023 00:14

I'm 44 and have several pairs of DMs, I always thought they were an older persons boot anyway, those of us who were teens / 20s in the 90s ?! My teenage daughters definitely wouldn't wear DMs.

OP those boots are gorgeous!!

That's very 107-ist of you.

At the age of 61 I finally admitted defeat with my almost unworn floral print Docs (oh the agony, my poor feet) and passed them on to the 28 year-old daughter of a friend. She loves them.

Aaaand it's this sort of ageist comment that makes people doubt whether they can wear something they like.

YouJustDoYou · 19/02/2023 07:42

Mabelface · 18/02/2023 13:36

You're never too old! I'm 53 and have 8 pairs of docs.

May I ask what you wear with them? I really want some but am terrible at knowing how to style myself.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 19/02/2023 07:48

Buy them. But also buy silicone heel protector socks from Amazon so they don't ruin your night/feet.

isthismylifenow · 19/02/2023 07:53

I'm 52 and had two pairs of docs. One pair were a bit more out there colour wise and I fell for them the moment I saw them. But I just could not break them in, and I felt life was just too short to be having aching feet. So I sold them on but I have my Pascal soft leather pair which I wear quite a lot.

So I think there is a point in life where I think comfort does come first, or should I say enough patience to wait for them to be comfortable.

So I would try them on in a shop and see how they feel comfort wise. If they are really stiff, you will need to wear them in before heading for a hen do .

You won't need to break in the Pascals though.

MyOwnVolt · 19/02/2023 08:02

I’ve got these ones, I’ve had them 2 years and they’ve proved completely impossible to break in, they are so uncomfortable! Love the look of them though. I’m 43. No such thing as to old for Docs.

Am I too old for these boots?
Mabelface · 19/02/2023 09:13

I wear them with everything. Dresses, skirts, jeans, dungarees.

Also, there are so many styles of dms that don't need breaking in. 1460s, Pascals, Alysons.

Mysterian · 19/02/2023 10:21

Not too old but they're over-priced and badly made.

Different colours but that was the style I had and gave away because I couldn't break them in.

I bought lace up ankle boots from Lanx and Joseph Cheaney last year - they don't have pretty flowers but they were wearable from day one.

My impossible to wear flowery ones were Pascals. And it was the boots- not my feet. My feet are "standard" for any other brand or type of footwear.

samsmum2 · 19/02/2023 14:00

Absolutely not! DMs are ageless and anyone can wear them IMO

Mabelface · 19/02/2023 14:00

Walking socks are your friend here.

Im in my 60s , Im wearing olive green platform style chunky boots today and I look fucking amazing.

HumptyNumpty76 · 19/02/2023 14:04

I'm older than you and have the taller pair of these. I wear them all the time! Took ages to wear in tho.

Ooh those are fabulous.

After looking at DMs from this thread I'm now getting ads popping up and having to tell myself that 1 pair at a time is enough!
