Photo help

I'm having my profile photo taken for a work related newsletter. I am filled with total dread about it and really really hate having my picture taken as I always look deranged. Of course it has been sprung on me last minute leaving little time to prepare. Any ideas on what to wear clothes and make up wise? Would I stick to black as it is a headshot. I am considering a blow dry that morning but is that OTT. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I feel your pain, OP!
No matter the scenario, I HATE having formal photos done. You're then stuck with a not-always-successful result for what feels far too long...

I had especially photogenic colleagues, so the comparison was double the stress!

I draped a shawl scarf in a really flattering but fairly muted colour, which 'lifted' my skin tone, plain but pretty earrings, clean and groomed hair, very minimal make-up.

And tried to look...um...friendly but composed.

Good luck.

How did it go in the end, OP?

I was going to say neutral make up and a top in colour that suits your skin tone so maybe not black as that's really harsh.

Hope it went well!
