I’ve not owned one myself but have heard enough people extolling their virtues and seen how flattering and easy to wear they are to highly doubt they’re going anywhere.

Are you bored of them yet?

That's a blow I'm NGL. I wore them in the 90s with white pumps and was so happy to see them back. The style suits my body shape really well and they are comfortable and easy to wear.

Deedanny · 10/02/2023 23:23

I love the look but it is a bit overdone. I recall going to an outdoor family centred public event last year and almost felt out of place as one of the few adult women NOT wearing a floral midi and white runners 😂

NatashaDancing · 11/02/2023 00:02

I've been wearing floral midi dresses pretty much my entire life since age 25. That's over 35 years ago.

NatashaDancing · 11/02/2023 00:04

I suppose a floral midi dress for me is the same as jeans for other. I never wear jeans but a floral dress just below knee to midi length is an essential basic (not with trainers tho')

JennyTheDonkey · 11/02/2023 00:19

Saw this today and had to laugh. I agree with her but then I'm not selling them - odd decision to remove something so popular from sale.

I really don't care what other people wear but seeing groups of women in these dresses, white trainers, denim or leather jackets and a cross body bag makes me wonder if people have any independent thoughts, it's such a uniform and really done to death. Have a bit of imagination.

LaviniasBigBloomers · 11/02/2023 00:20

I would love to know what their PR team were thinking. This is essentially a retailer saying 'you need to buy more stuff, not stuff like your old stuff, new stuff.' Crazy.

I hope they've sent Hush, Saint and Sofia, Me and Em, M&S and all the other millions of places selling the midi dresses punters want to wear the memo that they've not to stock them, or this might just bite JL in the bum... Hmm

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 11/02/2023 00:23

I really couldn’t care less what’s in and what’s out. If I want to wear a floral midi I will, not with white trainers though. Same with skinny jeans. Why do people let themselves be dictated to? Just wear what you like.

Ireadthenewstodayohboy · 11/02/2023 00:54

Thank god for that!

Agree with this, so many women dressed exactly the same, a very ubiquitous look and a bit of a cliché now.

pompomdaisy · 11/02/2023 01:10

I thought 'well I don't wear floral midi dresses anyway' then realised I've just bought one from hush! 🫢

SenecaFallsRedux · 11/02/2023 01:10

I love my skinnies and still wear them, but I will not mourn the floral midi dress style that on me seemed to veer between Little House on the Prairie and the Von Trapp family's curtains.

Like everyone wearing jeans then.

Mercurial123 · 11/02/2023 04:45

There's nothing wrong with floral midi dresses, it's the puffy sleeves, flounces, tiers, and those awful collars that make them look too fussy.

MistyRock · 11/02/2023 05:21

I'm glad. I hate midi and maxi dresses and when I'm in the look out for something new I can't find anything as it's all long dresses. I do not suit long dresses. I want knee length or mini. There are other shoppers to cater for.

Ponderingwindow · 11/02/2023 05:50

Or women could just dress in styles that suit their body type and personality. If a midi dress makes a women feel attractive and comfortable, then she should wear one regardless of trends. The same goes for denim styles.

Yep. I was thinking little house on the prairie too. Then I saw the white trainers worn with them and thought that ensemble is going to be one that we look back at and think, why?

Which shoes do you wear instead? I haven't moved on from the white trainers 😂

puppacup · 11/02/2023 06:24

They've been a thing for decades, suit all ages, flattering & florals are probably the least offensive print. Dresses are much easier than separates. Jeans are off trend but everyone still wears them.

ShellsOnTheBeach · 11/02/2023 06:26

Oh goody, so there'll be loads of them in the charity shops soon?

I'll stock up!!

Its not a new thing to wear a denim jacket over a dress in the summer or to want hands free bags. I think fashion in itself has just become more homogeneous, shops used to have more of their own identity. And certainly when I was a tween/teenager we dressed very differently to our parents whereas I don't think that's true as much now.

I know! 'How dare people be unoriginal and wear what they want to, be original and wear what you're told is fashionable instead!'

It was a thing in the 90s though so clearly people are not thinking why. Also comfort.

ElizaGumpyLeg · 11/02/2023 06:40

This style of dress has been a thing since the 1940’s it’s not going away.

Fashion world really is stupid these days. It’s totally disappeared up it’s own arse.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 11/02/2023 06:56

They were never flattering they make you look like a sack of spuds.

Its a dress to conceal flaws not flatter a nice figure.
