So few online at the moment but it’s my favourite season.
Post links to lovely summery frocks when you see them?

I've been eyeing up this. Not strictly a summer dress (long sleeves!) but pretty and floaty.

I pretty much lived in Apricot dresses for work last summer. I suspected them to be one season and gone, given the price, but they actually held up remarkably well. Looking forward to getting them out again.

That's very pretty and a nice shape, they have some lovely looking dresses. I personally couldn't cope with being encased in polyester like that, especially with sleeves, I find synthetics make me feel really sweaty, but that's me! I appreciate other people are fine with it.

Lentilweaver · 10/02/2023 17:44

This, or something like this, was my uniform last summer. Does anyone know where I can find more super simple dresses like these? I need pure cotton ( polyester or viscose make me itch), no flounces or florals or puff sleeves www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/airism-cotton-ultra-stretch-sleeveless-dress-457012.html?dwvar_457012_color=COL69&dwvar_457012_size=SMA001

Absolutely, definitely not!

Every Spring a madness takes me and I hare after some fabulous, flouncy, look-at-me frock - generally bankrupting self in process. It arrives and is perfection on the hanger. Only needs a little alteration … Throw money at alteration person. Retrieve garment. Try on. Hide thing. Pretend it doesn’t exist. Panic around the end of October at all the money wasted. Force self to put on awful mistake, under or over lovely shetland jumper and bulkiest coat. Leave house. Spend a torturous day in ridiculous garment. Come home; pack thing away for ever Winter. Don glorious Winter wardrobe. Look forward to another Spring …

Hmm

Yep. I never learn.

TalkinBaaaaht · 10/02/2023 18:43

I prefer winter clothes, but I’m bored of them by this point in the year, so will be nice to wear dresses & sandals at some point. Long way away, though!

I hope there will be more choice this year. The cheap looking floral/ditsy midi dress has surely had its day?

According to the Guardian it has:

I can’t wait! I’ve always loved wearing dresses all year round. I need to start my spring/summer wardrobe from scratch again this year (massive weight loss due to surgery), so I’ll probably get a lot from Vinted

@NashvilleQueen @IWonderWhyIBother

I also bought dresses from brake burn but have had no dispatch or order .
Have you received yours as I've messaged twice and no response from the company.
Thanks

@changer121 @NashvilleQueen I’ve only received the order confirmation that said orders are taking longer. There’s nothing on Twitter but I’ve attached some Facebook comments from their page. I’m going to dispute the transaction with PayPal.

@changer121 @NashvilleQueen I’ve just checked my emails and they have refunded the red dress, presumably it’s not in stock. I’m going to wait a few days to see if I get a dispatch notification for the blue dress.

FizzyStream · 17/02/2023 18:06

No I need to lose a stone first! Then I'll look forward to them Grin love me a summery dress.

I've bought this for MiL's funeral. It's less red than in the picture, no colour dominates. The white lace is actually cream. It's definitely a spring dress.

Thanks, maybe I will have it, much to everyone's distaste xx

Copperoliverbear · 22/02/2023 23:14

Can't wait started buying already. X

Pigtailsandall · 22/02/2023 23:15

Tentatively yes. If the floral tiered peter pan-collared polyester monstrosity dies a quick death first

I like that dress @Netcam and it suits my simple aesthetic. Like @Lentilweaver I'm looking for something simple in either cotton, linen or silk. Or merino wool, it seems! Open to stripes or big bold pattern, just not pastels and small prints or ditsy florals. I do love a god shirt dress too, but they've been hard to find.

I need to start stalking Dorothy Perkins again

Every year they seem to do
Maxi dresses that are long enough (I'm 5ft 10)
And then shorter dresses in the tall rang
All with room for boobs, that you can fit a bra under and are flattering
I have some pics of ones from the last couple of years if anyone wants to see, size 16

Branster · 22/02/2023 23:33

Yes please!!! I love dresses (and skirts) all year around but the summer ones are my favourite and I try wearing them as long as the weather permits.
I don't intend to but any new ones this year unless I see something that catches my eye on a trip abroad.
Embarrassed to confess I started counting them at the end of last autumn and I stopped at 70 because I scared myself at having so many. I wear them all and they fit. Some are over 20 years old and still look beautiful and suit me. I might not wear all of them during one season but over 2 summers for sure I get through all of them.
I don't always try them on when I buy them because I know what suits me and what I like. I'm also comfortable doing simple alterations so as long as the fabric, colour and style are to my liking, the item is in my size, then I buy it.
I might have a bit of an obsession here!
