Cheaper alternatives to Dr Barbara Sturm

So I’ve been happily using a Dr Barbara Sturm face cream sample that I got in a Cult Beauty Christmas box. It’s been lovely on my face. I knew it was a bit spenny but wasn’t quite ready to see the £140 price tag when I googled it. Does anyone know if any similar face creams that aren’t THAT expensive. Still happy to pay, but hopefully around £50.

What does it do? Can you Google the ingredients and find similar?

SuperHandss · 06/02/2023 17:25

I want the answer to this too! I got a sample in Cult freebie bundle and nothing has worked like it.

Often the high price tag in serums is due to the 'miracle ingredient' -lets say Whale jizz- which is what pushes the price, up but is in fact doing precisely zero in terms of active ingredients.

The ingredients don't look that special to me - but you could now hunt down other things with the same one and try and create your own version!

There are various websites that look at ingredient lists and suggests products with similar ingredients.

There's nothing particularly special in that ingredients list. The "active" ingredients aren't active as such. Corn oil, glycerine, squalane. All common (and cheap) hydrating ingredients.
I've read various beauty writers saying that there's nothing in the BS range that justifies the price point.

redroses86 · 06/02/2023 19:17

Thank you, those links are helpful. I’ll have a look.
I don’t get what justifies such a high price point either. But my skin feels really nice. I really wish I could say that it doesn’t work, but it does.

Is anyone selling it on eBay? I often sell off bits from advent calendars cheap if I know I won’t use them so I always check their first if I like an advent calendar item
