Following. I'm rationing the small amount I have left. I've tried so many foundations and this was definitely the best. I don't understand why EL discontinued it. Surely it was a best seller?

If you have a Cosmetic Company outlet anywhere near you then see if they have your shade of DW light.

Has anyone tried the DW Sheer? How does it compare?

Niftythrifter · 07/02/2023 07:23

I’ve not tried DW Light but used DW sheer and had a few bottles but I looked at a photo of myself one day and I looked really shiny and I don’t think I even finished the bottle before switching to a M&S foundation.

Unfortunately I haven’t managed to find a good substitute, although I’ve tried many. I’m now using Chanel Ultra Le Teint which has a similar coverage and finish, although it doesn’t last anywhere near as long. I use the Benefit pore professional primer with it which controls the shine.

I now use Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue foundation, which works well for me, but I do only like a light coverage so it might not suit if you want more coverage.

Don’t waste your money on the EL sheer, it’s absolutely rubbish and no comparison to DW light. I’ve tried the EL hydra rescue which is ok but quite dewy and made me break out more regularly. I now use Clarins bb skin detox which I love and my skin is less congested/prone to breakouts.

I'm just finishing a bottle. Won't be repurchasing. I'd say it's a tiny step up from a tinted moisturizer. It's like the foundation they used to do years ago that was called something light.

PAFMO · 07/02/2023 14:13

Enlighten! That's what it was called.

I used double wear farily consistently for about 20 years then ran out the night before a job interview a couple of years ago and had to grab the best thing I could find at the supermarket and happened upon L'Oréal 24 fresh wear foundation. I love it and haven't gone back to double wear since. It stays all day and doesn't dry my skin out at all, which has been a problem for me over winter with other foundations.

Another vote for L’Oréal. I use the nude serum foundation most which is a bit lighter than DW light but I prefer it. It lasts well.
Infallible is quite similar to DW light. I think that’s the fresh wear one pp mentioned.

I also used to use double wear light, and then ran out and had to grab what I could in an emergency... which was Boots No7 Hydraluminous. Didn't go back!

Thanks everyone. I’ll take a look at L’Oreal when I’m in town next.
