Nail Extensions

I normally have nail extensions as I bite my nails and have gel nail varnish applied on top. I then have infills every 3 weeks.
I've noticed more beauticians are doing full sets of gel nail extensions and been told you get a complete fresh set every time. Which are best? Surely it must take ages 3 weeks to get a new set taken off/put on each time and more costly?

They’re a newer type of extension where they attach a full-cover gel nail onto the natural nail, then they soak off and reapply rather than infilling.
if you want to get your nails growing with gel I’d suggest getting a gel overlay on your natural nails, and regular infills.

The choice between getting a complete fresh set of gel nail extensions each time and maintaining the same set for several weeks depends on your preferences, lifestyle, and budget. Both options have their pros and cons:

  1. Full Fresh Set Every Time:
Pros:
  • Fresh, flawless nails each time.
  • Opportunity to change nail length, shape, or design frequently.
  • No risk of damage or overuse of the natural nail.
Cons:
  • Can be time-consuming, as you'll need to schedule regular appointments.
  • May be more costly in the long run, as you're paying for a new set each time.
  • Removal and application can weaken natural nails if not done properly.

It's just to make more money, isn't it?

I've had extensions on for 20 plus years (with a break in lockdown) and only get a new set about three times a year. Nothing untoward has happened. In fact using chemicals to soak them off every three weeks would probably wreck your nails more than keeping them on!
