Dropdeadfred · 07/02/2008 13:00

haha....you're not wrong
Bet my list is shorter than yours...

CaptainCod · 07/02/2008 13:57

i snick a look today tbh( secretly) as i had forgotten i can wear magenta

Oliveoil · 07/02/2008 13:59

is it worth just getting the book and fudging through it yourself?

I do not have the time to go to see Cliff

CaptainCod · 07/02/2008 14:07

yes you do
i htink no its nto thea same
oyu need to rid yourself of entrched opionions

procrastinatingparent · 07/02/2008 14:33

Agree. I always thought I could wear purple if I got the right shade. But I can't.

The good thing is that it has stopped my mother trying to get me into 'brighter colours, dear, just to lighten you up a little'. I just wave my swatches at her and tell her that the woman said I was cool and dark and not to forget it.

CaptainCod · 07/02/2008 14:37

AND YOU ARE so COOLA DN DARK

lololol at waving swatches
my mum( typically disptes it) and maintaines that the dark green of my shcool uniform suits me
that was in 1988

RipMacWinkle · 07/02/2008 14:59

I'm provisionally booked in to this in a couple of weeks time. I have a day off when DS is in nursery so thought this would be perfect to help get my confidence back and give me a kick up the jacksy.

We're not poor but we're not rich either. It costs £80 which is a fair bit - DH says go for it if that's what I want to do. He just wants me to be happy. But.... I told a couple of close friends I was doing it and they told me I'm mad. Waste of money, more money than sense etc They suggested I go out shopping that day and spend the £80 on two or three nice tops. Thing is, are they right? As a v pale skin, mousy hair, blue eyes Scot I have a fair idea I'm going to get told to ditch the black and wear lots of softer colours - navy, greys, soft blues, pinks.

In that case - do I need my colours done? Or a personal shopper?

Help!

CaptainCod · 07/02/2008 15:00

GO

youll be pleased even if the colours initially arent what you woudl haev chosen
you will save a ofrtune in NOT makeing fashion errors.

tell the mates that they cna take you out when you have been, armed wiht the knowledge of what suits as IMo mates choose colthes that suit them( unless very skilled shoppers)

RipMacWinkle · 07/02/2008 15:05

Cod - I'm glad you said that! Thanks for responding. I guess I'm looking for confirmation that I'm not wasting my time or money. Esp when my friends were so anti.

What you've said is exactly what I was hoping for. I'm hoping it's £80 I won't spend on tops that just don't suit me.

You're right. I'll go for it. It's on the 25th so will report back.

Thank you Captain Cod [salute]

PandaG · 07/02/2008 15:09

OLiveOil I know a good independant in Sheffield if that is any good? Cat me and I will give you her details

procrastinatingparent · 07/02/2008 15:34

Rip - Cod so right (and when is she not? [smarmy emoticon]).

Mates are prejudiced to what suits them, not you. And actually my colours ARE what I chose instinctively myself. Having my colours done just gave me the confidence to tell bossy friends and relatives to shut up (actually, to tell my mother sweetly that that colour suits her beautifully but not me and I hope she kept the receipt because I don't think I'll get much wear out of the top, etc, etc. And how old do I have to be before my mother (God love her) stops buying me clothes?).

DualCylinderCod · 07/02/2008 15:37

oh god i love being right

ta all

Mercy · 07/02/2008 16:41

£60

I bet if I told you what I looked like a lot of you would be able to recommend what colours I should or shouldn't wear.

I can understand using personal shopper though.

DualCylinderCod · 07/02/2008 16:44

no do you knwo what mercy i dont htinks o

controlfreakyagain · 07/02/2008 16:48

i'm a jewel winter dont you know...
it really is good.. unless like my friend they tell you to wear only pukey pastels ... she cried on the way home.

Mercy · 07/02/2008 16:49

Maybe it's because of my own looks it seems pretty obvious what will or won't suit me.

I can always test you!

DualCylinderCod · 07/02/2008 16:50

lol. btu its never just oen sort of colour
the "winter " paltee looks really ncie till you realise that is pretty hard in summer

summer i wear blue and apinks and greens
winter amrrons, teal, dusky blues, cocoa etc

noddyholder · 07/02/2008 16:52

What about when you have a tan?I suit black and white when tan but not otherwise. And blues and greens look good when I'm pale but a bit cruise ship when i'm brown

PandaG · 07/02/2008 16:53

I think gthat Autumns are pretty easy to spot, but it is then the variety of autumn that is more difficult. I am pretty sure DD is going to be the same as me (sweetpea summer)but obv. don't worry about that for her yet, she is still into Barbie pink in a big way!
