M&S Stock

I've seen a dress I'd quite like with birthday money on M&S website. I've entered all London stores, Herts and Essex - and not one of them has it in stock, not even Oxford Street / Westfields.

I'd quite like to pay cash - my birthday money, and I'd like to actually see the texture, so would prefer not to buy online. Anyone know if all online stock does eventually make it to stores. It does not say 'online only.' I'm not a regular M&S customer, so wouldn't know. How long should I give it before caving in and perhaps buying online?

Can you not click and collect it and try it on in the changing room? Would have to pay by card but maybe you could use the equivalent amount of birthday cash on expenses you would otherwise have put on a card (assuming you don’t have a bank you can pay it into nearby)?

I think it depends on the item. If it’s something they are restocking/ordering more of, then it may end up in the stores. That’s especially true if it’s spring/summer stock. But I sometimes find even when it says something is in stock, it isn’t. Maybe it’s out back but it’s not on the shop floor.

I’d suggest ordering it to store, trying it, then if you want to pay with cash, get it refunded and buy it again. A ridiculous way to do it but ultimately less messing around than tracking items to stores.
