Quick poll - DMs with a party dress?

I have a black sort of 50s cut dress to wear tonight (boat neck, satiny material, great waist and a slightly bigger skirt but not a poofy skirt). Can I wear it with cherry DMs for a more goth look? It’s for a 40th birthday party.
