Does the perfect work bag exist?

I had a promotion recently and would like to treat myself to a new work bag, but want something quite specific.

-Made from leather
-Ideally tote shaped rather than unstructured
-Classic looking, something that won’t date
-Must have internal sections for laptop, A4 files/ notebooks and ideally pockets for keys, wallet etc

Does this bag exist? The ones I have found by googling either look nice but are black holes inside or have handy sections inside but look cheap or dated. Any suggestions please?

www.longchamp.com/gb/en/products/top-handle-bag-s-L1512757001.html

I have this - I think it's a really classic style and simple so no patterns to date it, can carry it in different ways and it holds lots. I put an insert into it to section it properly, I just get these from Amazon and they're fab. I have my laptop, riser, plug / headphones, purse, lunch, snacks and general bits and it's still got room!

Thanks @meetmeatmidnights Maybe the organiser is the way to go! Which one do you use?

I do like longchamp but the noticed sixth formers beginning to use the tote style ones in a few years back and it put me off a bit..

I have these organisers! They work really well for me.

The tote ones (the foldable ones) have definitely got more popular recently and are a fab price point for the quality, but the leather ones are just in a different league. I think the leather ones are less obviously branded too, the beige and tan foldable ones are super recognisable I agree. Still the best of both worlds that I've found tbh, I keep my eyes out but I haven't found anything that works for the price - unless they're backpacks which I'm not the biggest fan of!

I have this from Kaii. It looks good, is practical, and the quality is excellent.

I got this one a year and a half ago, and it’s been great. It contains my laptop, bulky charger, over ear teams call headphones, wallet, chunky bunch of keys, a few slim A4 paper documents / booklets (wouldn’t fit lots of ring binders), small hairbrush, scattering of pens, phone battery pack, phone, AirPods.
It’s still looking v good - nice leather. It’s not a tip top super impeccable £800 bag, but I was very very pleased with how good it was for the price - I’d thought it was worth a try at that price and it definitely was.

It wouldn’t fit a very large laptop - agree with their size guide - or sheafs and sheafs of paper and bulky folders.

I think there's a lot of bags that meet those specs, just depends on your style and budget.

Tory Burch
Osprey
Smythson
Whistles
Tommy Hilfiger
Bellroy (not fully leather but looks smart and has great compartments)

Is my dream bag!

MeredithMcDreamy · 28/01/2023 13:47

Such great suggestions thank you! Regarding budget, I’m not really sure as I want something that is good quality and will last a long time, but don’t want to pay excessively for a designer name.

Aspinal large London tote.
Ticks all your boxes.
Fantastically well made, looks good, not blingy.

The Outnet have quite a wide selection at various price points from £100 for a DKNY in lots of colours. At around the £400 mark there are quite a few from good labels which are unlikely to date.

I have something similar to this but in black, it doesn’t have any sections but I use a plain black organiser in it with tons of pockets. It holds an A4 notepad and a laptop, although I tend to use a separate laptop bag for that as I have charger, headphones etc and I only have that if I am going to the office for the day.
I like long shoulder straps as that is the most comfy. I would go for the right size leather bag, that ids comfortable to carry, and then add an organiser or use a folder or bags within it to organise, like one for make up, one for pens/ power bank etc. you can buy nice sets on Amazon etc.
