Dressing warmly - mid winter review thread

I read some of the earlier threads about how people are dressing this winter, in view of heating price increases. As it is mid winter, thought a new thread would be useful. What outfits/ clothes are working well for you?

I'll start. A base layer of merino wool leggings under my normal leggings has been a game changer for me. I can't believe it took me until mid winter to think of this! I wear cotton leggings all the time, as I have small DC and need something comfortable that washes and dries easily, so heavier fabric trousers have not worked for me. I am now rewearing the base layer and washing the top cotton layer as usual.

Now considering a merino wool base layer for everyday wear under my existing winter tops (which are easily washable). Not sure whether to go for a vest or longer sleeves. I feel like a vest might get more wears?

Wool top layers have not worked for me as a mum. I get halfway through the day and get sticky hands on me/ go to a gross softplay and want to wash my clothes after and need to wear things that can go in the tumble dryer for convenience.

Vest & thin long sleeve top works for me, lots of layering & I’ve got loads so I can save up full loads for wash/coordinate for line drying with the weather.

Also have made great use of oversized men’s overalls I picked up at charity shop - thrown over all other clothes or pyjamas while house warms up or having to be out in garden.
