SNS any good?

So I've been getting gel nails for ages. Redone every couple of weeks. I love the look and love getting them done. but I just read a news report that recent studies have shown the UV lamp causes cel damage in the lab :(
They haven't proven YET that thus could lead to skin cancer but certainly seems likely. I'm gutted. Really don't want to stop getting them done but I'd not forgive myself if I carried on now I know that and I DID get skin cancer.
So I wanted to know if anyone knows a manicure style that's safer and good. I think acrylics are pretty bad for you too aren't they? And I don't really like the way they look thick. SNS? Are they safer? Do they look good and last?
I think I'd rather stop completely rather than faff around with a regular polish manicure that only lasts a day or so

I’ve had SNS. I found it lasted really well, it’s very tough so I didn’t get any chips or anything. I thought it was tougher than gel where I often get small chips after a couple of weeks wear. I felt like it was really bad for my nails though as the removal involved filing it away (maybe this was just the salon I went to though?) Also some query about hygiene - check they’re not asking you to dip your nails in the same pot as others (risk of spreading infection).

Eek I really hadn't thought about the hygiene angle with the powder. I think the place I go to sort of brushes the powder on rather than sticks people's fingers in but since I don't get it I haven't paid much attention really.
I've decided to get some UV gloves with no fingertips. I'm going to look crazy but it should put the UV worry out of my head. These
