Work attire

I'm needing a revamp of my work wardrobe but I'm a bit clueless really as I've been working from home for a while.
I previously just used to look at somewhere like Dorothy Perkins but I'm in a professional role now and could do with looking a bit nicer.
I also feel the cold a lot.

Where would you recommend? I'm talking mid range - not cheapy but not mega bucks.

Where do people find those nice looking wool dresses?

I'd normally put a cardigan over a dress, bit I feel frumpy (I'm 35). Is this a valid concern? Or should I embrace the chill?

I like the boots with a dress look, but what kind of boots to be suitable for an office?

I could do with a personal stylist 😂 please help a girl out!

I wear uniqlo heat tech tops under my work clothes so I don't have to wear big jumpers on top. They keep you cosy but don't add any bulk.

What sort of price point are you looking at - would you consider Whistles, etc mid-range?

Eileen101 · 26/01/2023 19:23

Yes, I think about that price point was what I had in mind.

Ha snap re Uniqlo heattech tops. I have a range of different necklines in black that I use.
Cos is my go to for work clothes these days. Generally lots of natural fibres, well made and a bit interesting.

Oh and I actually wear DMs or black leather trainers to the office if I’m not seeing clients. I’m careful to balance them out with a more structured top half so I don’t look casual overall.

Chelsea boots are good for the office.

Roman originals is quite good for dresses and skirts. The quality is reasonable, in fact as good as Boden etc which have gone down hill quality wise.

M&S is also my go-to for work shopping the m&s collection rather than any of the other brands.

Passmeaplacard · 27/01/2023 06:41

Just coming to second M&S it’s really back on form again at the moment. I work in a corporate role and most of my work clothes are from there

Eileen101 · 27/01/2023 06:42

Ah some brilliant ideas thanks all.

Goes off to Google what a Chelsea boot actually is....

I’ve found some nice blouses in sainsburys recently - not expensive either - worth a look

Bananadramallamas · 28/01/2023 17:16

I had a couple of nice tops from Sainsbury last year. Then I realised they had shrunk. Not good😕
Go to M&S. Natural fibres, plain colours. Thin thermal camisoles under, smart jacket over.
