I’m in the market for a new red lipstick.

Please will you let me know the ones you like? I’m after a satin to satin-matte finish (if that’s a thing) Blue toned.

I’ve liked Chanel Lover (I think this was discontinued years ago) and Louboutin one in ‘Rouge Louboutin’ but wear it so infrequently I don’t want to spend mega bucks (again) although it’s fabulous…

Recently tried Nars Cruella, colour good but too drying.

Not drying is the key I think

Cheapo dupes etc very welcome

Let me know what you like 💋

Nars dragon girl is good and I didn't find it drying

HippyChickMama · 26/01/2023 18:52

I like Revlon Really Red and Revlon Certainly Red, they're quite similar though one is slightly more orange toned (can't remember which off the top of my head). I think texture wise though, MAC lipsticks are the most comfortable and non drying, Ruby Woo or Russian Red are nice

HippyChickMama · 26/01/2023 18:55

I've just looked at my Revlon lipsticks and Certainly Red is the bluer toned one

SirVixofVixHall · 26/01/2023 18:59

I like the slim Hourglass lipstick.

ageingdisgracefully · 26/01/2023 19:03

I like Ruby Woo and Russian Red. Ruby Woo is the bluer (on me at least).

DutchTeenyPixie · 26/01/2023 19:11

MAC Ruby Woo or this one is very similar @This one which is similarhttps://www.lookfantastic.com/

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/01/2023 19:14

I can’t cope with Ruby Woo anymore- too drying. I have a Chanel one in Madamoiselle which is nice.

dun1urkin · 26/01/2023 19:20

Thanks everyone, I knew there were a couple of Mac ones, but had forgotten which ones they were. I do think at some point I’ve tried Mac though and found them drying. Will deffo have a look at revlon recommendations, thank you

I was hovering over one of the new Guerlain ones yesterday, Red Ballerina.

Blue-toned, satin rather than matte. Doesn't look as if it would be drying. I saw it swatched by a Youtuber alongside the other two reds in the collection and really had to hold myself back, because I'm not exactly rolling in spending money for lipsticks just now. And I've got a fair few in the stash to use up 👀

Lisa Eldridge Velvet Ribbon or really any of her reds. They're all gorgeous.

Howtoberight · 26/01/2023 20:02

Ruby Woo is drying but Cockney isn't at all on me. I'd give rhat a try. I bought Dare You after Fleabag (because she wore it apparently!) and that's also a good red.

KillingMeDeftly · 26/01/2023 20:27

Pat McGrath Elson (after Karen, presumably) - matte but not drying. Alas pricey except on Black Friday when it's £12.

Maybelline Ruby for Me is good. Matte and long lasting but not too drying.

Tallulasdancingshoes · 26/01/2023 22:02

Chanel Dimitri is lovely. It’s a blue based pinky red.

Mercurial123 · 27/01/2023 04:14

Another vote for Lisa Eldridge. Quality is amazing, it stays put for most of the day and is cruelty free.

tilestoclean · 27/01/2023 05:56

I recently bought the Lisa Eldridge one but at the same time bought the Charlotte tilbury. Comparing them side by side the CT one is definitely better and less drying. It does have more of a matte finish than LE though

JulesGeebee · 27/01/2023 07:50

Chanel rouge coco flash amour number 92. Gorgeous and hydrating

NightOwlNotEarlyBird · 27/01/2023 10:30

Kat Von D Outlaw is a great shade for me, a deeper red. Non drying and long lasting too!

mimiasovitch · 27/01/2023 15:15

I'm loving Charlotte Tilbury Red Carpet red at the moment.
