Question about shoes

Hi all,
I've got an event to go to in the next few weeks and bought a very beautiful new pair of shoes. What's the best way to make sure they are as comfy as possible for the day and evening and would you recommend taking them to a cobbler to get a half sole put on for grip? TIA!

I would spend as much time as possible wearing them at home to get used to them. If they pinch a bit, wear a light pair of socks to help loosen them.
Heaven forbid but if they prove to be utter bastards and totally unbreakable foot lacerating nightmares, you can still return them as you won’t have damaged the sole while pottering at home.

Second this, wear at home while you’re doing something on your feet. I usually try out shoes while preparing food for about an hour
