Not sure if this is the correct place but was hoping for some honest opinions on something I'm considering

Thinking of joining an expensive health club spa thingy ..

A . It's expensive so I'm likely to go and make most of it
It will be good for my mental health as def some me time
It will kick start my weight loss and health improvement plan

B. Waste of money
Unlikely to go
Novelty will wear off quickly
I'll sit planning to go whilst drinking tea and packet of biscuits

Did anyone find spending more than a typical gym membership make them go more regularly.. or am I kidding myself ?
Thanks all 🤗

Do you have to sign up for a year or can you do it monthly?

thedevilinablackdress · 23/01/2023 17:49

Is it easy to get to? Do you have time to go?
These things probably matter more than how much you pay for it.
If it's nice and lovely, that might help too.

Wasteofmoneyornot · 23/01/2023 17:51

Thank you both .. I think you sign up for 3 months then it's monthly rolling

Yes easy to get to and it does seem lovely
Going for a tour this weekend , hope to have made my mind up by then

Do you have the time to go? I’ve been in spa gyms in last and much prefer them to a regular gym. The last few years I’ve only had time to go to a regular gym. If my circumstances change in eve near future, I’d definitely re-join a spa gym.

I do go to the gym most days though if that makes a difference but would do pool, sauna etc if had more time.

I signed up to an uber-posh private members’ club with amazing spa and gym facilities. I soon got bored. I then discovered my amazing hot yoga studio, where I go daily. The key is to find something you love and that resonates with you. That will make it worth it.

You’ve definitely got to enjoy it. I absolutely love the gym but I’m not that fussed on classes. Some people can’t stand the gym but love running outside or dance or swimming. The key to sticking with it is finding something you love or you probably won’t keep it up.

Is this the David Lloyd trial for three months then join?

I’m considering the same thing, the lido and crèche are big pluses but equally it’s keeping the motivation to go! Although I’ve often found expensive gym memberships worth it as I break it down to a cost per day and think how much I’m wasting daily if I miss a class, or I think if I go every other day that’s £6 a class but it I only bother going twice a month that’s £100 a class and I try to scare myself into going more!

Thank you all
Not David Lloyd .. it's Hoar Cross Hall

I do have the time to go at least twice a week , 3 if I was super keen

Lots to think about

This is what worries me .. don't want to look at bank balance and see how much one visit in a fortnight has cost me

Think I will go for the look around , get the class timetable , see how it fits , check out some more reviews and then decide

It could make or break me to be honest

I need something for days I'm not at work that don't involve sitting on settee , watching crap tv and eating junk
