Dr Martens 'For Life'

About 6 years ago, Dr Martens did a range of 'For Life' boots. They were £160 at the time with the idea that when they were worn etc, you pay postage to send them back and they replace them.

Has anybody ever had any luck getting a new pair? Mine are still going strong but just wanted to see if anybody had managed to get a new pair Smile

my friend's son got a pair, he got a replacement, but had to put up a fight.
Do you have all the correspondence etc in writing, printed on paper?

I've got the original reciept, the 'For Life' handbook that came with it and also have it noted down the email address/password etc. I'm not in need of a new pair yet (despite practically wearing them almost every day!), I was just curious to see if anybody had managed to get a new pair Smile

to be fair to DM i got my DD a pair (of the platform sparkly ones) for Christmas a few years ago. The sole broke within a year and they were replaced (not like for like unfortunately as they were discontinued, but she was happy) without quibble.
Not sure if their customer service is still as good though.

If you have all the paperwork, I'm guessing you'll be fine.

They do seem to have good customer service Smile platform sparkley ones sound amazing though!

My husband got Docs for life as he is v hard wearing on shoes.

So far he has sent them back once for repair and they returned a brand new pair. Which kind of wasn't what we wanted, as from an environmental point of view we wanted a repair! I can't fault the customer service though.

That's good though! Smile Can I ask, where they like for like? I think the way DMs are made now are nothing in comparison to the DM for life range Sad

Unfortunately my husband has no idea. As far as he is concerned he sent away black shoes and got black ones back 😂

I think you are right about quality though. He got the For Life ones in the final months they allowed it and he wore through them really quick, and proper docs should last decades.

i have lots of docs, as does my DH (and both DDs come to that). I have my football ones, which i bought over 20 years ago, and i wear to all matches and often in between. They are the old style made in UK ones (with the black trim round the top of the boot, i think that's not a thing now?) and they are fantastic. My DH has a pair that are now about 35 years old, he can't wear them because inside they have worn so much they're uncomfortable. All his newer ones, including the vegan ones, are fine. He wears either the 1460 or the shoes.
All mine are fine - all 1460 boots except for my sequinned shoes (oh how i love them)

I think that if you cycle through them, so don't wear the same ones every day, you don't notice the lack of quality as much. I probably won't buy any more for a while now though
