Le mer eye cream - talk me down please

PeanutJellyAndButter · 18/01/2023 23:20

I currently have a pot of Le Mer eye cream in my basket. This is hugely expensive.

I need you all to talk me down. It’s not going to change my puffy eyes and dark circles.

I have generally good skin and no wrinkles for 40ish. I don’t like wearing make up and concealer under my eyes makes me look older, so do like good skincare.

I really want to get it. I’m sure I will look fresh and young again if I use it.

I’m just so tired after the holidays and feel so grey and lacklustre.

A haircut will be cheaper and probably make me look better.

should I just buy it???

Pulling up a chair and grabbing my popcorn to see how this pans out...

Have you tried a tester to know if you like it?
I'm really intrigued whether these top dollar products deliver

PeanutJellyAndButter · 18/01/2023 23:29

Haha me too. I have not tried a tester. I’m sure it won’t work. It’s just late. And I’m tired. And I want something nice.

How much is it? Curious!

resipsa · 18/01/2023 23:34

Don't do it. Ask any dermatologist if it can do what is promised. The answer is no.

resipsa · 18/01/2023 23:35

Money better spent on hair, nails, massage - something that definitely 'works'.

cushionfiend · 18/01/2023 23:36

This may not help but I've recently tried some samples of CDLM face creams and they make my skin feel so good, I'm quite gutted that they are totally unaffordable by me. And I'm normally pretty cynical about pricey face creams.

Bibbetybobbity · 18/01/2023 23:39

If it helps I’ve used La Mer face cream in the past and whilst my skin was v soft, it did zero for the appearance. I’ve gone back to astral!! I wanted to love it but couldn’t justify the price for - I promise you- absolutely no visual change at all…

Christmascracker0 · 18/01/2023 23:40

There are so many other products you can buy with £180 😅

tobeornottobe1 · 18/01/2023 23:44

Don't waste your money on it!! Invest in a medical grade eye serum which is surprisingly cheaper!

Divebar2021 · 18/01/2023 23:48

I would suggest you try a few under eye concealers because my very moderately priced one from Glossier does not make me look older… and I wear it just with a serum sometimes

PeanutJellyAndButter · 18/01/2023 23:48

Haha thanks all! I definitely think there are better things to spend my money on.

Maybe I’m just not very good at it. One of the reasons I don’t wear much make up.

I will have a look at concealers. I don’t have any at the moment

What was that one that was popular....touché eclat? (that sound rude). I think boots did a dupe that was much cheaper.

Don't models use preparation h, because it reduces swelling? Not tried it myself....anywhereBlush

thewinterwitch · 18/01/2023 23:58

Nivea in the blue tin. Like La Mer, it's a faff to work in. I know it's not an eye cream, but a bog standard eye cream by eg L'Oreal will do fine, and then use a concealer as mentioned by others. Also:

I actually don’t use any eye cream at the moment. I do use decent moisturiser but just put that round the eyes too. I don’t have wrinkles, so never worried too much about it.

I have had dark circles my whole life, as do my kids, so I think it’s just a skin thing for me. I’m pretty pale

It’s the puffy bits I guess. they seem to be newer and what’s bothering me rather than the dark circles

I think the problem of spending more than you're used to on something, is that it can only be a disappointment. It's extremely unlikely to live up to the expectations raised by the price tag.

I think I get more pleasure out of something inexpensive that does the job. That said, do they let you try a bit at the La Mer counter in john Lewis? Even if you look like a bag lady? Which I'm totally rocking btw.

Actually, I should save the money I'd normally splurge on Nivea and get to bed before 1 am. It'd probably do my eyebags a world of good.

TheVikingGirl · 19/01/2023 00:14

This stuff has been miracle working for me, spenny but lasts as a little goes a long way. I cannot live without it now! My make up used to crease in my lines - not anymore!

IS Clinical youth eye complex

NCembarassed · 19/01/2023 00:20

I have lines around my eyes. I use Beauty Kitchen plankton+ eye serum as it does make a difference. Prior to that I used Estee Lauder's Uncircle, but it stopped working for me. After trying lots of things, I found this serum.

Alternatively, they have an Abyssinian oil eye serum which I've not tried, but sounds good.

One thing I like about Beauty Kitchen is that they will recycle the empties.

Habreathmint · 19/01/2023 00:35

Please don't, it's shit. You can get a good L'Oréal product for a 10th of the price. And spend the rest on a haircut and lovely things!

THIS.

It's just fancy marketing. None of the ingredients penetrate deep enough into the skin to make any real effect.

Don't do it!
