Shoe sizing

I'm large of hoof, but I've noticed in some outlets size 8 is a 41 and size 7 is a 40.

Is this the case now as I was in John Lewis for example all size 8s were 41. There were quite a few women complaining that the sizing was inconsistent

I always look for continental sizing for this reason. I need a 42.

This bothers me all the time! I’m a 41, which is sometimes an 7 sometimes an 8.
Then some places a women’s 41 is an 8 and the men’s 41 is a 7. It’s so inconsistent! A 41 always fits. I wish they’d just go with the European sizes.

I think it’s a mixed bag I’m a 41 so sometimes a seven muck boots, Ecco, Fly London, camper. An 8 in places like Clarks.
