Body shape and Jeans style

I'm average height, decent weight but have always preferred to cover my belly and bum. Nothing wrong with them but I just prefer to wear longer, looser tops. As there are lots of new jeans shapes around now, I have experimented and don't feel right wearing looser fit bottoms with longer tops.

How do you prefer to style them? If you have a bit of a belly do you still tuck in or wear more cropped tops?
I'm not too bothered about fashion as such, so am happy to wear a mix of whatever I'm in the mood for, but I am curious as to how you lot style your non-skinny jeans.

Are you happy to share more midriff as opposed to the previous silhouette of baggy top/skinny bottoms?

I am chunky of belly and I look far better with a looser jean and a jumper tucked in. Took a long time to peel me out of my skinnies and long tops though!

I don’t show any belly - wear tucked in vests under but will loosely tuck my top into jeans. Even if I’m bloated it is a far better silhouette than trying to cover up my tum.

I found this article @TheMatisseStories that might be helpful.

Try slim leg or bootcut as they are slim in the thigh and may work with the sort of tops you wear with your skinnies.
It wear a wider leg and do a French tuck. You'll still cover your bum and loose around the belly but you'll get definition

@Niftythrifter Thanks, will take a look!

@Ostryga I sometimes wonder if I just don't like jeans. I feel sort of awkward any which way Grin I do like a streamlined look so the tucking bothers me. Will have to experiment a bit more. I do know that when I am bloated I never feel comfortable showing my middle or cutting it in half (with a belt or tuck).

@pocketvenuss I have some lovely slim jeans, a sort of slim 'girlfriend' that are so comfy, but I do feel a bit floppy in them! I can't say I miss the discomfort of skinnies though, they always made me feel restricted.

Also, got to admit, after checking out the link above, I do think the women wearing skinnies look the best. Compared to the others. Strange cos I don't much like wearing them myself.

I've just read the article on jeans shape, what to wear with, it says with the skinnie jeans wear a voluminous top, yet the picture shows a modal wearing a fitted top with her skinnie jeans.
