Does anyone buy expensive(ish) jewellery from eBay please?

Just wondering what safeguards you plug in place to ensure jewellery is real?

Like with Tiffany or Gucci - they can be easily copied. Seller may have 100% feedback - do you rely on that?

I'm looking at a necklace at the moment - could be easily copied - could be secondhand genuine that someone just doesn't wear. Not sure if I bought it whether I would always have in my mind a doubt about if it was real

I always go by feedback. I've bought from estate sales. You can get a bargain. My favourite ring went to bidding I got it for £150 originally it was on at £1,000. I was lucky and it was a bargain.

I don't know about Gucci or Tiffany though.

Price. Packaging. Provenance (receipts etc). Reviews. Other items for sale.

Is it too cheap? Does it come with apparently pristine packaging but no receipt or proof or purchase?

Is this a business seller with thousands of listings or a private individual with a handful of items listed?

Feedback. Both received and given. What have they sold recently?

Cheers for this. I'm looking at a Gucci boule necklace - more that I like the design than the name - so about £380 originally (not a massive amount I know).
Selling on eBay for between £85 and £250. I'm tempted just to go to the jewellers but would be nice to get a bargain or it cheaper

You can get cashback from places like Quidco - for Goldsmiths, it's 11% for me for example. That's a decent lump off something like that, but with the security of legit business seller.
