Reading the no/low spend thread. I was spectacularly unsuccessful last year.
i wondered if anybody also interested in a “ shop your wardrobe “ thread to help keep on track.
I have heaps of clothes! Don’t need anymore but find I do feel bored - especially over winter.
Boredom can lead to spending!
when I was a poor student. ..well I was thinner 🤣🤣, but had less clothes and was more creative with what I had.
Now in my 50’s and still love my clothes and my style is still (hopefully) a bit quirky but I have more than enough!

Having recently retired (early), for the first time I’ve had any real time or inclination to sort through my extensive hoard of clothes. A friend suggested Vinted so I’m working my way through clothes I will never fit into again, those I no longer need for work and those ‘why on earth …’ purchases. Ive given some to an old work colleague, some have gone to the charity shop and some have been sold on Vinted. Im trying to shop my wardrobe for the remaining clothes. The clothes that don't get worn by the end of the season will be added to the donate or sell pile. Ive been doing the same with shoes and handbags. The plan is that I will have a more sensible amount of clothes that actually get worn. I also decided that if something isn't in good enough condition to donate or sell why am I wearing it … so it goes for rags.

Yes, I'm very much in.
I am consciously trying to buy less.
Though i'm not entirely convinced of the buy less, buy better discussion. I find basics like White T shirts don't seem to last year on year. So I buy a few new each year. I try to buy ethically, so I bought from Vildnis this year.
Here's my outfit of the day via the Whering App. The raspberry pink jumper is a new sale buy but the other items are all old.

Great thread. I'm in.

@Cantonet i love the leopard print / hot pink combo.

I'm busting out some bright Zara jeans for the spring.

Following, I really need to wear my clothes or sell them and could do with inspiration for putting together outfits.

Is that Whering app worth a try?

Cantonet · 24/03/2023 10:51

Definitely @JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon . I'm finding it particularly useful in deciding whether to buy something or not. As I use it to pair up virtual outfits combos. & post it in my spring lookbook. Also I've discovered lots of new ways to wear the same items that I would never have thought of before, without a visual reminder.

@SwishMyCape i love your black/white & pink combo. The yellow earrings are brilliant. I'm feeling very drawn to colour this spring. I'm so fed up of neutrals, navy ( my normal default) & black.
I've bought some bright lipstick - Mac Sheer Outrage ( pink grapefruit) to cheer up my rather wintry visage 💋

I'm really intrigued by this Whering app. I downloaded it a little while ago but ended up deleting it without ever opening it. Do you just take a photo of your clothes and it goes into the database? Then drag/drop to pair stuff?

Lemonjade · 24/03/2023 11:28

Thanks for tip about the Whering app. Looks interesting

SwishMyCape · 24/03/2023 11:28

@Cantonet thanks. That lipstick sounds fun. A pop of colour!

@Lheuredubebe yep you can photograph your clothes or trawl the web for the pictures. I went through my emails for online orders to get the names of the styles and then Google image searched them. It's an investment of time at first. I did a bit here and there and found most of my clothes.

beguilingeyes · 24/03/2023 14:07

I got very into buying clothes on ebay, because of the bargain prices. The problem then was that I was buying things because they were cheap and not necessarily because they suited me or I needed them.
I need to have a clear out.

Cantonet · 24/03/2023 18:22

@Lheuredubebe I download most from my past emails & online shops. But I have clothes going back years, so that's a little more tricky. I try & find the closest match online in those cases. For example I've just bought a m&s raspberry pink cashmere jumper in an extra large because I like cashmere very slouchy. I downloaded another picture of a similar coloured jumper that was slouchy instead. As it's important to have the right proportions.

Today's outfit. A variation on 💙
With a Brora thermal top on underneath, as the wind is icy here.
