Just silver hoop earrings

I've been eying some Tiffany silver hoop earrings for a while forever.www.tiffany.co.uk/jewelry/earrings/tiffany-1837-hoop-earrings-GRP11447/
I can't get my head around the fact that they are simply silver hoops, and there are many cheaper versions available.
I have one of those milestone birthdays coming up and would wear these daily.
Is Tiffany worth the extra? am I being lazy not looking at other makes or caught up in the marketing?

Tiffany silver is no different to any other silver. I've got a Tiffany ring but it's nothing unique and I sometimes wish I'd gone for a different version.

No one knows it's from Tiffany and I'm not keen on the Tiffany stamp that's on these earrings either.

Its up to you though, if you can afford it and want them then buy them

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 16/01/2023 17:20

That's an awful lot of money for something so cheap looking. Look on Etsy, loads of silversmiths with shops on there or Not on the High street.

MrsMitford3 · 16/01/2023 17:25

It really only matters if you like them.

They are silver hoops but have the Tiffany stamp on them so that is the difference. They aren't plain hoops so that's really the question-do you want the Tiffany stamp? If you do and would wear them every day and be reminded of your special day then go for it!

Tiddlywinkly · 16/01/2023 17:27

If you like them and you'll wear them loads, why not? My wedding band is Tiffany's. No one would know, but it's special to me and obviously I wear it every day.

Craghopper1 · 16/01/2023 17:29

Good lord they are a rip off! You are paying for the brand and nothing else.

Luckingfovely · 16/01/2023 17:31

I used to love Tiffany and have a lot of their jewellery (well, dd has nicked most of it now)!

But that is an absolutely insane amount of money for a pair of silver hoops. The only value they have is shouting I CAN BUY VERY EXPENSIVE TIFFANY SILVER HOOPS.

If that's what you want your earrings to say and you can afford it, then go for it.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are a thousand other and nicer options out there for one tenth of the price.

MarmiteCoriander · 16/01/2023 17:33

They should be free! There is a big stamp on them so you would be providing free advertising of their own brand! Unless you are happy with this- look elsewhere, save money and find nicer ones.

I personally think the 'stamp' on there looks awful!

earsup · 16/01/2023 17:44

silver is only about 56p a gramme....dont be ripped off...i got some nice plain hoops on ebay for £4.

CatsEatDogs · 16/01/2023 17:59

That’s a total rip off imo but as op said, they’re not plain silver hoops. You’d be totally paying for the stamp so it really depends how important the branding is to you

Mykittensmittens · 16/01/2023 18:02

If it’s the stamping not the branding speak to an independent silversmith. They could stamp a design into hoops - words, letters, symbols - whatever you fancy. Probably for under £100

(I’m a silversmith but only as a hobby, but I guarantee if you find an independent seller/maker they will do this)

Mykittensmittens · 16/01/2023 18:03

As an example…

zoeruthdesigns.co.uk/products/circles-stamped-textured-silver-hoop-studs

£34 vs £455!!

Twizbe · 16/01/2023 18:05

Fuck me that's a huge mark up just to have a mark stamped on them!

Raera · 16/01/2023 18:17

Have a day out to lovely Durham and get something bespoke. This guy is a genius and no, I don't have any affiliation.

As others have said, you'll be paying for the stamp OP. If you like it, then go for it. Personally I wouldn't wear branded/stamped jewellery like that.
I've bought some lovely silver hoops on Etsy recently. Monica Vinader and Missoma both have more expensive silver hoops but without the stamp.

FlatOutLizzardDrinking · 16/01/2023 23:03

What I liked about these was the diameter, width and squared off clean profile but I agree with others about the branding. I just thought that it might not be too noticeable.
I think you have all confirmed that there are better options out there, I just need to look a bit further afield and save for a holiday instead.

The stamp is awful, it's like they're inside out.

chickywoo · 16/01/2023 23:24

It depends on your budget but for me they are
massively overpriced the silver in them worth about £20
i’ve got a milestone birthday coming up and for same price ( a bit less) of these hoops am having a 4 nights City break for 2!
but it’s your money & your ears 😉theres also an app called Sara, they sell knock offs for about £5/10 of all these expensive brands if you want the look but not the price.

Defiantlynot41 · 17/01/2023 00:06

If you like a clean, modern design try Georg Jensen. Amazing quality and lovely design, I have the Mercy and Double offspring hoops www.georgjensen.com/en-gb/jewellery/earrings

Get onto DHgate...fab dupes...you will get a pair for about £6....some amazing stuff on that site...and its all legit....pay with credit card etc....we have got some nice bits over the years.

TealSapphire · 17/01/2023 01:24

I think if you have your heart set on them then go for it. Ime if you find something similar, cheaper, then you'll just be wishing you got the original ones that you loved.

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 17/01/2023 01:38

thats silly money for silver hoops. I have white gold hoops that cost half that.

fatsinglereadytomingle · 17/01/2023 01:42

Whilst I like some Tiffany Jewell you definitely pay for the brand.

Have a look at Monica Vinader mischief more reasonably priced and just as good quality

noodlezoodle · 17/01/2023 02:30

Yikes, I can't believe the placement of those stamps! If you search for 'square edge' or 'squared off' silver hoops you should find some good options.

Knobblybobbly · 17/01/2023 02:41

I don’t see the point in hoops that aren’t complete hoops, you’ll still get stabbed by that stem.

sorry, I know that wasn’t your concern but for me, the only benefit of hoops it’s their comfort.

StPaulandTheBrokenBones · 17/01/2023 22:50

I really like silver jewellery from here johngarlandtaylor.com/
