@Laska2Meryls Sounds lovely, what a great idea!

dudsville · 25/01/2023 12:49

Firstly, Argh! No! Stop it!

But secondly, how exciting!

@Laska2Meryls , that is a fabulous idea!!!

I also bought the swingy denim @AFingerofFudge , but there was only a small left so this may well be too small for me. Also the charcoal boxy cardigan that I missed was back, but only in a size either side of my preferred so have ordered both because you just never know with toast. And thanks @Snowyowl78 I had a look at that jumper but I don't like rolled edges so that's saved me a pound or two!

Snowyowl78 · 25/01/2023 12:54

I’m annoyed because the Alix in Brass are showing up now at £85 and I paid £120 for them 3 weeks ago.

Laska2Meryls · 25/01/2023 13:39

Did you buy them in the sale Snowy? Id contact Toast anyway and see if they will refund the difference..

dudsville · 25/01/2023 13:41

That is annoying @Snowyowl78 . I can't help but keep a running total in my head of discounts I've missed and it always feels like a little pinch. Do you still have the tags?

I've had a lovely sale parcel arrive this morning. To the person who recommended the botanical print nightdress and robe - thank you! The night dress is veeeery thin, and I initially considered not keeping it, but I love the print and it does evoke the Bloomsbury Set era, and it would be very good for the height of summer (so I went back and got the twigs and berries one, the checkerboard being sold out!). I've also spent a few years looking for a slip to wear under dresses and this might be able to double as that.

I also got the matching robe - I've really disliked all the robes I've tried, and the kimono sleeves were a particularly irritating part of that, but this print is so pretty that I instantly started thinking about how I will alter the sleeves. The set also somehow evoke in me a memory of luxury in the 80's, something I could only view from a disctance or by tv, folks with nice houses who the inspector always found sipping orange juice on the lawn, so it feels like a gift to "little me" whose nose is no longer pressed up against the glass.

I also had the two corduroy dresses - the pleated and the workwear. These both swamped me in a way I couldn't see working, whch is a shame as it's some very soft and wonderful feeling fabric.

I also recieved the chalk/mole cardigan, the one with the ribbon of colour along the bottom and sleeve cuff hems. I don't know what I was thinking when ordering this - it's not my colour and it's not a shape I'm investing in.

FInally I also recieved the indigo denim wrap skirt. I'd thought this was redundant as being so similar to my other indigo patch pocket skirt. And it may well be, but it's really my kind of thing so I'll hang on to it for a few days and see.

Snowyowl78 · 25/01/2023 13:49

@Laska2Meryls @dudsville they were in the sale (not sure why i kept them at that price!) but I think toast will only refund you if it’s in the returns period :(

AmethystMoonShine · 25/01/2023 13:55

Arghhhhh! I caved.

Tie neck fluid twill dress which I like in green but only a 12 which I think will be too big so also ordered the orange one in 10 in case I can pull off the colour. Worried they’ll be creased in 5 mins though?

also the diamond block print cotton dress in cornflower as I realised I’m off to Crete in the summer and don’t do sun so it’ll be good for keeping the sun off my skin and the cotton seems light.

MargaretDevereuxsSubaltern · 25/01/2023 13:58

Hi everyone, I'm a bit late to the Toast party but I'm very keen. I love Toast and generally only buy in the sales so I'm enjoying all your tips and purchases. I recently ordered the orange round collar t-shirt and I'm hoping that's going to be a fun thing to wear for Spring / Summer. I also treated myself to the small silver hoop earrings which I love. I'm now debating over a Toast dress as you've drawn my attention to the Franca which looks so beautiful.

TerrierOrTerror · 25/01/2023 14:04

Just had what I hope is a last sale hurrah - a top, a dress and some boots. Almost hoping none of it fits bit we shall see.

I wore the Plum Check dress to work yesterday and had a lot of compliments. It's great to have a dress which works well with heels and a jacket in the office but also with a jumper and laced ankle boots for commuting/picking up the dog from daycare.

faustina · 25/01/2023 14:37

oh my goodness - so much more in the sale! The navy pique jersey shirt has arrived and it doesn't seem to be gaping, which I'm really pleased about as it's so lovely. Finding it very hard to try anything on at the moment as it's so cold but I think It's worth keeping

SmaugMum · 25/01/2023 14:45

You lot are terrible enablers! So, my final, final sale hurrah is a pair of Fracap Hiker boots in olive. I have the black version and they have served me well for the past three (?) winters, which pretty much spans from October to March/April here. They go with everything; trousers, dresses and skirts and they scrub up brilliantly. I have never seen these boots reduced before and, in fact, the bitter chocolate pair (not reduced) is now £10 more expensive than the old colours. I just hope I don’t look too matchy-matchy with my new olive winter parka!

Oh, and I bought more coral enamel plates as they are so useful.

MiracleToast · 25/01/2023 15:01

Don’t worry @SmaugMum the olive boots are much more olive brown than olive green. I got them a few years ago and wear them religiously with everything including a green puffer duvet coat.

@dudsville I’m so pleased you love the robe! I’m imagining myself wafting around the garden in summer with freshly brewed tea and dappled sun light.

I have refrained from ordering anything else. My replacement oil burner arrived and I’m very much enjoying the ticking bed linen - I’m using a flat sheet under my duvet as well and what a difference it makes having a sheet. I’ve very much enjoyed the sale but am now looking ahead to the new season, navy is the colour for me I think this year and I’m praying my favourites will make it to the sale.

dudsville · 25/01/2023 15:05

Thanks again @MiracleToast , it's definitely one for wafting!

I've already had a dispatch notice of one of my purchases this afternoon.

savvy7 · 25/01/2023 17:50

What's the verdict on the boxy cashmere cardigan please? Does it bobble/pill?

SmaugMum · 25/01/2023 18:04

Thanks for the feedback @MiracleToast , I actually preferred the olive boots when I ordered m black pair a few years ago, thinking black would be a more sensible choice. I’m so pleased they have finally been reduced and I can’t wait to wear them!

ToastCosILoveIt · 25/01/2023 18:20

Some feedback re the Wrap Front Indigo Twill Jumpsuit: I ordered the 12 (I am a high street 12 - busty but an apple so small hips and a bit of a tummy) and i wasnt sure about it - the tie seemed to come come out from the nipple line. So I then ordered the 14 to compare for sizing and while both fitted and I could make the 14 look neater by tying it more tightly, I think the 14 was, overall, too baggy for me around the hip and crotch. So, I am keeping the 12 and will makle it work. It is a lovely and a flattering jumpsuit, nice fabric and cut. If I could change something it would be to make the tie slightly lower.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 25/01/2023 18:41

@faustina glad the pique jersey shirt worked for you, it is a lovely shirt and I was really disappointed it didn’t work for me.

Interesting feedback on the wrap front jumpsuit @ToastCosILoveIt . Toast jumpsuits rarely work on me as I seem to be too short in the body for them but I assume with the ties that would help adjust it.

DarlingCoffee · 25/01/2023 19:25

I can’t believe the sale is still going!

faustina · 25/01/2023 19:28

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - thank you. I was fully expecting it to be a big fail after all the other reviews from people of a similar shape (I'm a 30F) so it was a lovely and much needed surprise, and straight afterwards I sold a pair of boots from my big boot cull on Ebay, so it has cost me almost nothing in Ebay logic.

Noeggsontoast · 25/01/2023 19:54

I can't believe the sale is still going and things that weren't in it before have popped up too.

I hadn't intended on buying anything further but the jacquard knitted tunic was a good price at £60 to try. My knitwear weakness strikes again! It arrived today and it works really well with the current season denim shirt dress, so it's a keeper. I hadn't bothered with it due to the bone colour, but the dress collar keeps the colour off my skin. I also have a myssy beret arriving tomorrow as well.

@ToastCosILoveIt good to hear the feedback on the jumpsuit. I have a dress from a couple of seasons ago with that same tie waist which always gets compliments, so it's on my list but the ties aren't as high as you describe on the jumpsuit. I'll have to try it.

ToastCosILoveIt · 25/01/2023 21:40

@Noeggsontoast , is that the blue dress with the white lines? I have that dress too, the jumpsuit is a bit higher round the bust where it ties.

Noeggsontoast · 25/01/2023 21:49

@ToastCosILoveIt yes that's the one. I shall have to see if the jumpsuit works as I'm low busted, so the placement of the ties might make give me the illusion of no body.

dudsville · 25/01/2023 22:05

Finally, they've posted that the sale ends in 2 days. I'm so glad. I was beginning to wonder what it would be like for them to have a permanent sale section like some do, and how we would never know when to look so would have to be constantly checking, like some kind of neurotic love hate relationship.

Saurus72 · 25/01/2023 22:09

I’m exhausted when the sale is on - yes @dudsville , the constant checking and regrets for not buying certain things in the Kindred preview, but hey we live and learn, we move on. Massive regrets for not buying all the colours of the boat neck tees - such a gorgeous top for wearing with pj bottoms. Oh well.

ilovecherries · 26/01/2023 00:30

I have that dress as well, it’s so lovely. It’s a bit big for me atm, I’m trying to work out if it can be altered. It’s just a bit bunchy everywhere
