Petite Men's Peacoat?

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 13/01/2023 09:51

I'm looking for a lead for a men's wool pea coat. My husband is petite, however and does need shorter sleeves. Any ideas??

@SteveBuscemisRheumyEye , Petite is a term that is only used to describe females.
In clothing terms, it usually refers to women under 5'3" or 5'2" depending on the brand. It doesn't mean delicate bone structure.

How tall is your fella?

**I got the ick after my new boyfriend described himself as petite.

Next might be worth a try. Another one might be brands from mainland europe in taller boy's sizes.

brands for short men

I meant older boys' not taller boy's.

Apologies for nitpicking over the term petite but it is a bit like describing a dark haired man as brunette.

Haha. He's 5'7" but has quite short arms. It's mostly the arm length I'm interested in!

Sleeves aren't too bad to shorten. Find a decent alterations service or a good dressmaker and have them shortened.
The coat/jacket length is much harder to shorten, and fitted and knitted styles are harder. An overcoat like a gabardine with straight seams should be straightforward.

Smile The then new boyfriend did actually have a good head of dark hair, but he was small boned and about 5'6". The petite description killed any willingness on my part to overlook the fact that he was about the same size as me.

As long as his arms are long enough to go from his shoulders to his wrists, and give you lovely hugs, then it's the coats that are too long.

Absolutely 😄

I have a small-framed adult son, and he has found good quality clothes that fit him well in, of all places, Matalan. He still wears the peacoat I bought him there about 5 years ago.

Absolutely!! He's stunningly gorgeous!! Never understand the nonsense about height in men. Fortunately he's very relaxed and confident in himself.

Thanks!

My DH is five eight , he fits the short fitting in John Lewis very well. But sleeves are straightforward to shorten, especially if your DH is also slender, as the sleeves tend to be longer as the sizes get bigger.
Another option is to look at jackets for 16-18 year olds.
