Turtle Doves Seconds Lucky Dip!

So, after the popularity of the Roka lucky dip sale, I’ve got my new pink back pack waiting for its first use today, is anyone tempted by Turtle Doves?

I’ve got fingerless gloves, neck warmer and headband already but tempted to try the lucky dip for more colours.

Has anyone done this before? I’m wondering if it’s obvious that they are seconds?

Tempted by a headband. I'm an absolute sucker for a lucky dip - always imagining the perfect colour arriving in the post and almost always slightly disappointed. Still, there must be something about the hope that keeps me tempted!

spinningirl10 · 13/01/2023 08:26

Ooh I've not heard of them, will take a look.

ImprobablePuffin · 13/01/2023 08:27

I just had a look at the website but I can't see where the lucky dip is...where is it?

Mykittensmittens · 13/01/2023 08:31

There was something on here a while ago where MNetters got them then all swapped
round if they didn’t like the ones they got! Might be worth trying to find the thread as it gave good examples of what the types were (quite varied in both colour and sizing if I recall?)

I got an email as I’m in their mailing list.
hope the link works:

I’ve bought quite a few items from them but never seconds. I’m thinking if they send a colour I’m really not keen on it makes a good present.

I bought some from their seconds shop on ebay, they did make it clear they weren't cashmere but I didn't expect them to bobble so badly and so quickly. They look awful, like rags now and have only had them about 6 weeks. So hopefully the pure wool ones will be better.

HeyHeyer · 13/01/2023 08:42

I've had some from their eBay listings which pop up from time to time - fantastic value and I was lucky to get no holes at all.

Be careful though, there seem to be a lot of fake listings using their name and photos on there recently. I've reported quite a few - some based in China so really obvious - but they keep popping up. They're pretty easy to spot but I can see they're getting orders so they must be fooling some buyers.

Here is the thread about swaps:

I've had the seconds lucky dip before and haven't been able to find any visible faults with them, but they were all on the small side so a snug fit. Not sure if this is usual or the reason why they were classed as seconds. The colours were beautiful though and very versatile blues and Greys.

Beach11 · 13/01/2023 09:26

I‘ve bought the seconds before and very pleased with both pairs bought.
One pair had a tiny discoloured mark that can only see if looking and the other pair couldn’t actually spot anything wrong.
There’s a sticker where in imperfection is.
Will definitely buy again in future

knitfastdieyoung · 13/01/2023 13:51

I've had two lots of seconds from them. One was a neck warmer with the tiniest of ink marks. I covered it with a decorative button. The second was wrist warmers where the left one had very light marking, but covered a larger area. It was much harder to conceal and I was very disappointed. They ended up in the charity shop...

It's luck of the draw....

Thanks Mykittensmittens (very appropriate name for this thread!).
I’ll have a read.

I got them just before christmas, cannot see any fault at all. They're perfect and I get really cold hands when I am sitting at my desk so very happy, only complaint is that are mine I guess an ecru kind of colur so they kind of look like tubigrip if I keep them on on video calls and people can see my hands! Well worth the money though. Dont think I would love them as much if I had paid full price.

Stokey · 13/01/2023 14:59

Thanks @Dashie - I've ordered some wrist warmers. Have a couple from Johnston's which the moths have got into so need a new pair
