I have a big event next weekend, black tie and everything.

I am a good half stone over pre Christmas weight and my dress doesn’t look quite the perfect fit. I am tired and my skin is tired. I look a bit urgh tbh.

what can I do in this amount of time to make the best effort for my lovely new dress?? Help!

happy to throw a little bit of money at it…

Cut sugar, booze and caffeine for the next week and make sure you’re eating at least 10 different portions of fruit and veg a day to improve your complexion. It’s the only thing that makes me look any good haha.

And get some kind of rejuvenating facial this weekend!

I think everyone feels like this post-Christmas. Say some nice things to yourself in the mirror and have a fab time!

In all seriousness, buy spanks if you don't feel your dress sits right.
Get your hair done, or just a blow dry. Brows and nails done. Make up too if you have a MUA you trust. Don't risk someone new, you may feel like a drag Queen if they go too heavy.
Do not listen to anyone who tells you to drink a shit tonne of what in the next week, you'll just feel more bloated in your dress!
Have a fabulous time OP.
Send pics of the dress!!!

Perricone 3 day diet.

ShangPie · 10/01/2023 12:54

Spanx / control undies / whatever works with your dress

spray tan - nothing crazy obvious but just enough to even out the wobbly blotchy bits (speaking for myself here)

Hair and/or make up done professionally

A massive bit of blingy jewellery as a distraction

Facial massage after cleansing - loads of videos on YT. Can do it while watching tv!

Black coffee for breakfast, every time you want to snack have a big cup of herbal tea, cut out dairy, sugar and bread between now and the event, yadda yadda

Cut/reduce carbs. Even after a few days this reduces bloat and you'll feel less puffy. Just leave out bread/cake/spuds/pasta/rice.

Iamatissuebox · 10/01/2023 13:25

I knew someone would say no carbs. I am very bad at that, especially in winter 😂

Will it really work?? Ditto to sugar/dairy?

I'd just book a facial (with someone trusted) and possibly a blow-dry - personally I wouldn't make myself miserable by cutting out sugar/carbs/tea/alcohol for a week, just for a few hours at an event, but some people have much more willpower than me 😁

EternalSunshine19 · 10/01/2023 15:09

Agree with just buying spanks. You're not gonna lose half a stone by next weekend so just get some control wear. Get your hair done, nails done. Get a facial 2 says before. Try to get as much sleep as possible and drink lots of water (that will help your skin).

Hop27 · 10/01/2023 20:06

@Iamatissuebox - if you went on a lean diet of greens and protein 1200 ish for a week you'll probably drop a few kg's in water. Which potentially no one will notice bar your bathroom scales. You'll feel like shit for a week, have a raging headache from detox and be pretty snappy. Buy spanx and get your hair done.
Still waiting on the dress photos Grin

Sheet mask before you do your make up
