New glasses - pink frames. Mistake?

Needed a new pair of frames and fancied something a bit more 'jazzy' (have standard black pair with metal sides currently). I felt brave and ordered a deep pink colour.
DH just said I'll look like Sue Pollard and now I'm full of regret.

What do you think of coloured frames? Have I made a poor choice?
I saw someone wearing a pair recently and thought they looked cool. I'm 40.

I have several different coloured frames -- purple with pink sides, tortoiseshell with yellow orange sides, a black and cream 'animal' design and a yellow/orange stripey pair.
But all the frames are quite delicate looking, not at all like the thick and heavy 'Su Pollard' red ones. (I think more delicate frames are more usual these days.)
I'm quite a bit older than you, too...

tinselvestsparklepants · 09/01/2023 21:01

Well I think you'll look great!

AllAboutSlime · 09/01/2023 21:01

I think they sound fab. Life is too long to have boring glasses.

TiredThursday · 09/01/2023 21:01

Do you normally admire your DH's sense of style? I'm not man bashing but my husband will often comment on some of my outfit choices but he isn't the most exciting dresser so I take it with a pinch of salt. I'd go with your gut and try the pink ones. I've recently experimented with different shapes and colours, including a transparent pair which I thought were too cool for me (also 40) and have had lots of compliments. So go for it!

I love coloured frames too - but have so far resisted anything other than tortoiseshell or dark brown.
I'm 46 and I love coloured frames look fabulous on others (Prue Leith for example) but it's part of an overall "look" which I don't have. I fear I'd look like Timmy Mallet or indeed Sue Pollard so haven't braved it yet!!

But I'm sorely tempted. . .

SiobhanSharpe · 09/01/2023 21:04

Apologies for the multiple posts, they weren't going through at all until suddenly they all appeared! .

NancyJoan · 09/01/2023 21:06

Calling someone with bright glasses/ quirky style Su Pollard is so, so lazy. I bet you look great!

Lollypop701 · 09/01/2023 21:09

Need a photo!

I tried on some light pink ones recently but they were too pastel and looked like the old NHS ones from the 1980s. I went for a darker more Pru Leith shade but like you fear I'm closer to Su than Pru!

I bought an amazing pair of oversized pink acrylic frames they were a bit retro/Deirdre Barlow looking but I liked then until I saw a picture of Rose West and she had on almost the exact same frames.....they've never been worn again 😂😬

Shampern · 09/01/2023 21:17

It's good to have a change every now and then.
Prue Leith leads the way with coloured frames and always looks good.

DrEllie · 09/01/2023 21:17

I love Su Pollard (and other funky colour glasses wearer Pru Leith). If you like them you wear them. Can we see a pic (just of the glasses if you don't want to take a photo of yourself?)

HippeePrincess · 09/01/2023 21:18

I’ve nearly always had coloured frames, currently pink, have had teal, animal print, pink and purple…
black frames don’t suit me at all!

LdnReno · 09/01/2023 21:22

Thanks all, this is giving some hope & confidence.
OK this is a pic of the frames from the brand website (not of me wearing them!!)

mine are purple with white inside rims. I love them. Bet your pink ones will look ace.

Mumstheword2022 · 09/01/2023 21:31

I am sitting here wearing my pink ‘Kylie’ ones from Specsavers ones and as others have said, black ones are boring!

my second pair are turquoise and leopard print. 🤣

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 09/01/2023 21:35

I hate black frames. Really boring and heavy.

Im a summer. I’ve had pink, turquoise, grey? cream and silver frames. I really wanted some lilac ones but they’d sold out.

l don’t even try black frames on.

Theos · 09/01/2023 21:38

I’d say the shape isn’t right

MistsofAvalon · 09/01/2023 21:39

Love those pink frames! Not Su Pollard-ish at all! Ignore DH.

I like them!
What colour is your hair?
I'm going for new frames next week and fancy some pink ones. My current ones are green.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 09/01/2023 21:45

I love them 😍
