Retinol for idiots

To use or not to use?

39, good genetics, fairly good skin in that it's pretty unreactive, some texture, very few wrinkles.

Do I start using retinol to preserve what I've got? If so, what and how?

I love retinol and find that it's a fab addition to my skincare routine. I would definitely start really low (maybe 0.2%) and I really recommend the ordinary retinols - they're affordable, minimal ingredients and I get along really well with them. It can take a bit of trying for your skin to get used to it but it's transformed my skin. Definitely apply at night if you can and make sure you have spf in your routine too.

I like the retinol and argireline combination for fine lines and good skin condition.

Thanks. I love the ordinary so will start off there.

I use a moisturizer in the morning with SPF 40 in it on my face, neck and hands but that's about the limit of my skincare! I use simple soap in the morning and Clinique facewash at night.

The ordinary regime builder online can be helpful and their online chat team are amazing - I've pestered them a few times and they're really knowledgeable about everything and would definitely be able to help!

I think the only really effective retinol is only available on prescription here by a dermatologist. Skin+me or similar. I have a prescription and think it’s great. I only use it every other day and you need to use spf every day. You can use my link to get first and fifth prescription free. You can cancel or delay at any time.

I've used Eclat Retinol Serum from Amazon for six months and it's absolutely turned my skin around. I'm 50 and my skin has never looked better. I use it every evening under moisturiser (Cerave lotion) and it's honestly the best thing I've ever done for my skin apart from giving up smoking Really inexpensive too.

Be sure to always use a sunscreen in the daytime though.
