Alternatives to Bare Minerals for foundation?

For about 10 years now I’ve loved Bare Minerals powder foundation but I cannot for love nor money find the shade I always buy, anywhere at all. It’s unavailable on every website I’ve tried, perhaps being discontinued. So I wanted to know if anyone knows of any other good mineral powder foundations I could try?

I'm wondering is it the shade Medium? I've been looking for this and can find other shades but can't get medium anywhere 😕

Morvena · 07/01/2023 21:37

Hi @Rosiemiz no it’s fairly light! I did look for a few others which I felt were pretty close in shade and found that loads of the shades are unavailable! I wonder if they’re discontinued or if it’s just an issue with supply or something?

I really like Nude by Nature powder foundation - I bought it in Boots a few years ago so not sure if it’s still stocked there. It’s my favourite type of foundation and has lasted me ages as I barely used it during Covid..

Rosiemiz · 07/01/2023 21:44

I really hope they are not being discontinued, I've been wearing it for years too!

Lily Lolo. Brilliant.

Itchintobestitchin · 07/01/2023 22:31

Barefaced Beauty does a good mineral foundation. They have travel sized pots that are good for trying out shades before committing to a full size one.

TheOGCCL · 07/01/2023 23:53

I asked Bare Minerals a while back as couldn't get Golden Fair and they said it wasn't being discontinued and there were just supply issues. Not sure I believe them.

Lloki · 08/01/2023 00:05

I've used Lily Lolo for years and it's brilliant. I have very sensitive skin so avoided bare minerals due to the ingredients, Lily lolo is superior in my opinion.
I also use barefaced minerals for my finishing powder which is also great and I would buy Foundation from them too if for any reason I couldn't get my normal one

www.qvc.com/checkout/cart.html
It's on the US website if that's any good to you.

Also I prefer Laura geller balance and brighten, it doesn't sit in my lines as much.

Morvena · 08/01/2023 08:27

Thanks everyone for your suggestions Smile will check them out

@Morvena did you ever find an alternative? I'm in this situation now with fairly light and can't find it anywhere and no idea what else to use!

Morvena · 07/04/2023 17:03

@Gothambutnotahamster nope! I use a Rimmel tinted moisturiser at the minute but it ain’t the same at all

Oh no, that's so annoying to hear @Morvena ! Wonder what's going on with them?

LolaSmiles · 07/04/2023 17:09

I found swapping to their complexion rescue was a good stopgap, but with drier skin I find I get some patches on my cheeks.
Our local counter told me there's been supply issues too.

Gothambutnotahamster · 08/04/2023 18:19

@Morvena & @LolaSmiles went into my local John Lewis today and had a great girl on the counter help me. She said they're switching suppliers so should have stock again by the end of April but in the meantime, she gave me the remnants that she could from the tester and also showed how to mix Light with what I have left to get a shade that looks ok on my skin.

Hoping she's right about the end of April and think I'll manage to get by until then with mixing Light with fairly light as I don't really wear much make up. Fingers crossed!

Morvena · 08/04/2023 18:22

@Gothambutnotahamster Ahh that’s good to hear! Their bareminerals UK site is under maintenance at the minute with a message saying more to come in April so hopefully it’ll be much easier to get a hold of then! I’m in NI so no John Lewis here unfortunately, I always used to get it in Debenhams which is no longer either! But Boots sell it I believe, and if not fingers crossed for online!

Gothambutnotahamster · 08/04/2023 18:26

She did tell me they'd shut the website for now but should be back online again in a couple of weeks.

The price had gone up to £36.50 for the Light I bought, which she apologised for, but I guess everything has gone up, so resigned to things costing a fortune these days!

LovelyIssues · 30/04/2023 11:22

I'm also bare mineral fairly light, one comes up on amazon but delivery isn't until 18th May! I've struggled for months now. I've been using physicians choice mineral powder from Boots, it's £12 and the same as Bare Mineral!

Jellybean2468 · 01/06/2023 16:20

Thanks for this, I don't suppose you could tell me the shade you're using as I might give it a try. Paying £30+ for bare minerals which hardly lasts very long is making me look elsewhere! Thank you.

Gothambutnotahamster · 01/06/2023 23:52

Id be keen to know too @LovelyIssues thanks!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 10/09/2023 23:33

Sorry bumping this. Has anyone got an alternative to their discontinued bare pro concealer please? I loathe the liquid one. It’s too cakey for me. Or am I better off starting my own thread? X
