Please help me find some trousers.

First of all, please be kind. I’m really not into high fashion and shop in places that tend to be described as frumpy. But I like them.

My problem is trousers. I can’t find any that I like, fit and look ok. I tend to live in Joules Henesford Chinos but I’m fed up with them now. I do quite like the Boden Richmond trousers but I find the colours a little too bright. I prefer something plain as most of my tops are patterned or striped.

Fit is the biggest issue. I’m a size 16/18 and all of that is on my arse, thighs and calves, but I have a relatively small waist.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

I’m a similar size and shape to you and tend to go for elasticated waist, wide leg trousers as they’re comfortable and fit my smaller waist and larger hips. I have found nice plain ones at H and M, Yours and in Asos Curve. Even though I’m at the bottom end of the plus size size ranges I find their clothes tend to hang better on me.

sadly our H&M just closed. I used to find their their trousers didn’t fit me. I’ll have a look at ASOS and Yours. Thanks.

I'm a similar size and have recently bought some joggers with turn ups from F&F in Tesco. About £15. They're much smarter than they sound and look great with a top either tucked in or French tucked. They wash really well and keep their shape. I would size down in them though, they are generously cut
