Pressed powder always smashing!

Hi all,

ive been using this powder for a while and love it (I don’t use other foundation, only this) :

www.boots.com/loreal-paris-infallible-24h-fresh-wear-powder-foundation-10291892

the “ cakes” just keep smashing though. I’m staying with family and just opened my powder to do my face - it’s practically new and it’s smashed , covering everything in my make up bag. I know things can be repressed but it’s all such a hassle. I’ve two young kids , a job, I study and am renovating a house - life is a whirlwind and these extra little annoying things just need to be eliminated !

i have an oily t-zone so do need powder.

Can anybody recommend a powder suitable for an extremely fair/porcelain skin tone that comes in a different sort of packaging? Rather than a pressed cake. I don’t think I’d get on with a simple tub of loose powder.

Maybe a tube that doesn’t release much, or one of those brushes with the powder behind it and the brush kind of self loads?… Or perhaps something very mattifying that isn’t actually a powder at all?

thank you :)

Do you use a primer? I use the L'oriel one and it's great.

EezyOozy · 06/01/2023 09:30

I don’t ! I tried a Mac mattifying primer and I was still oily and needed powder, so I gave up.

I stopped using pressed powder too for that very reason

Dream matte mousse has just occurred to me, As a blast from my past… I might try this again

I am really messy/klutzy/careless with things but I love my Soap and Glory pressed powder. Gets rid of oilies.

I haven't used the primer though.

Glad it's not just me. I love the loreal infallible but it always smashes, my dd says I am just clumsy. I have tried everything for my oily face and have not found anything it's so frustrating. I am 45 I thought my face would be drier by now
I have tried so many primers and powders but nothing lasts. I feel your pain.

dontleaveitthere · 06/01/2023 17:18

I hear you.

I'm just here for a hand hold. And possibly some suggestions to save my clumsy butterfingers

Gatekeeper · 06/01/2023 17:23

trouble is that many compacts don't come with a powder puff anymore so there isn't room for one.

EezyOozy · 06/01/2023 17:37

@Battlecat98 im glad it’s not just me !! I’ve ordered a dream matte mousse and will report back (I hope it’s improved a bit since I last used it). It is powdery though.

Have you tried Maybelline Matte Maker? I've been using it for years, it's great for an oily T zone as it's finely milled and I've never smashed one yet despite throwing my bag around many times a day.

I buy the powder puffs from Superdrug like the ones a PP linked above and there's room for one in there. The lid screws shut so never comes loose.

It's also currently £3.99. Worth a punt?

EezyOozy · 06/01/2023 19:28

Thank you @LadyOfTheCanyon I’ll try it

I use the Laura Mercier pressed power and it has never smashed. I have travelled extensively with it in my bags.
