Hello,

I'm very much a skin care beginner and have tried in the past to find a good skincare and routine but all I find I do is waste money on stuff I don't get on with.

My skin type is dry but oily on the T zone, prone to flaky skin especially with this colder weather and very prone to redness on my cheeks and nose.

I have tried Elemis in the past and love their cleansing balm, pro radiance cleansing cream but that's it.
I have been using elf holy hydration moisturiser but find it's not cutting it atm and the whole world of skincare is such a minefield I don't know what I'm meant to be doing and when!
Oh and I also use elemis papaya enzyme peel twice weekly followed with the pro collagen mask but I'm finding it's making my skin prone to redness more now.

I just want some advice if anyone is able to pass on their own experience etc?

I was so hoping the marine cream would be my HG but nope Xmas Sad

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, and felt bombarded by so many products and information it was impossible to know where to start. Firstly I would advise to strip your routine right back for a few weeks to see if there is an improvement (mild cleanser and moisturiser).

If you are on instagram I recommend following dr natalia speirings, she's a dermatologist and her page is very helpful and simple.
Dermatica has worked wonders for me, it's an online Dermatology subscription service, you upload photos of your skin which are reviewed and custom treatment is sent out monthly.

Hope that's some help on where you might want to start!

Cerave

You don’t need to peel twice a week.

You don’t need to peel twice a week.

I just went off what the Elemis advisor told me and what it said on the bottle.
When is best to do it?

Once a week, if anything goes red it’s unhappy.

I was the same as you, OP and I had a look on youtube until I found an influencer about my age and with similar type skin problems. I followed everything she did and it actually made a lot of difference to my skin. It's such a relief to have a proper skin care routine that I know is working.

Does anyone know anything different I can use that will exfoliate the dead skin (my skin gets very dry and flaky) as the last time I used the enzyme peel, my skin was very warm and red. 🙂 TIA

Acid toners exfoliate.
Glycolic for dry, Salicylic for oily. Start gradually (once or twice a week, and only when you've sorted out your redness)
