Does anybody have any advice on looking after your nails. I keep getting hard dry skin right next to my nails which I end up pulling and making the skin sore. I work as a nurse so wash my hands a lot during work. Also cant wear nail varnish so dont think it would be worth paying for a manicure when I cant have nail varnish other than clear. Tried loads of different hand creams none seem to help much.

They are hang nails, don't pull or bite them, they can be really painful. Snip them off not too short with nail clippers. Get some good handcream like Neutrogena and use it daily. It's the cold weather that doesn't help.

You need cuticle nippers to get rid of the hang nails, I bought a pair in home and bargain recently for £2.
